Truck Repair Hose clamps are ridiculous

Ok.

WHY are there so many styles of hose clamps?

T bar style, with OR without the spring.

Worm style with a spring

Worm style no spring.

There’s metrics and imperial sizes.

It’s silly.

And I don’t even know where there supposed to be used and what the difference is.

My CAC piping has three or four different kinds on it alone, then you move over to my air filter piping and it’s just the regular worm style with no spring.

Most of my coolant hoses are the fancy double worm style with a spring

What gives? It’s maddening to try and stock all the right parts when I don’t even know what the right parts are supposed to be :coocoo:

Alright that’s what I stock. There’s some inventory that I could do without, then again there’s stuff I could add.

I’m on the fence about re-using clamps. For CAC or air intake piping I’m sure it’s fine. The risk of being broke down for a $10 clamp on the cooling system I’m hesitant

But I’ve seen the CAC clamps break and need new ones when it’s getting reassembled. I have spares for that reason but I don’t think I’d replace them with new ones just because

I’m ok with re-using hose clamps as long as they haven’t been overtightened.

The pre-tension clamps, or whatever they are called. Get tossed in the trash.

Some are stronger than others. Some are used for quick assembly by the manufacturer (constant tension clamps).
That doesn’t really explain why theres a t-bolt style with and without a spring

Or why most of the worm style clamps on a truck have a spring

Yet the air intake piping is just a worm style clamp

Ye gods just pick one style people
