I used free practice tests. Just kept taking them till I got 100% every time went to the DMV and didn’t miss a single question. I did have my class B air brakes and passenger endorsement since I was 18 though. So combination wasn’t that hard to add. At 18 I read the manual and learned from my dad. I did miss a few back then but that was so long ago I don’t remember how many, the test was also paper back then and there wasn’t much available on the inter web.

i used to tell my students, to study for about 20 minutes, take a 10 minute break, study another 20 minutes, and so on.

when it came test time, i told them, "as you read the question, READ IT EXACTLY as it is printed, DO NOT add a word, or take a word away".

and finally, the correct answer is usally the first one you choose. once you doubt that answer, you got it wrong.
