Order of The Gilded Flip Flop
yeh sinister i am looking in to it and i got aproved to go up oct 12 and start.i just saw your post and another drivers post on google.i just wanted to see what other drivers had to say.i love a challenge and thats what iam looking for.i dont want to get rich i just want to make a livin and go home and hopfully after a year buy a my truck thru them or by other means.right now i just want to do it thru them.they also told me i am going to be on % pay.
SOOOoooo...after 4.5 weeks on the road, and OD loads every weekend (which meant Sunday no travel curfews and staring at truck stops) I delivered in Valapraiso, IN (with my 2nd Class 2 load, thank you...) and then ran THREE Chicago Heights to Manitowoc with those BRAND NEW counter weights.
Wednesday, they were all hauled in, and I started getting offers for the weekend. Which meant to be out- and most likely sit - for the holiday.
Then I pulled the biggest boneheaded move I've made yet, and have yet to forgive myself for it.
They offered me a load out of Alpena, MI to Greenville, SC. Class 2 (12 9 wide) with 500 tarp pay and 2000 (@65%, bout 1450 to me) in detention to sit over the holiday.
The detention comment was waaaay down at the bottom of the offer screen WHERE THEY NEVER WRITE ANYTHING...so...in my exhaustion...and stupidity...I passed on the load.
It would have paid me almost 4000 to run over Labor Day weekend. But, after 4.5 weeks, I couldn't stand the thought of sitting on another load, in another truck stop, or usually I get a room...but being 152 miles from the house, and planning to run over labor day, I bounced home, and ended up sittin gat home FIVE days.
I held the last short run I did, so I didn't go behind either week, but my checks the last two weeks have been ugly.
I ran a granite load to NYC last week, and I should be good, and am on a small OD load to Baltimore (GOD I hate these) this week, with my truck bills paid when I deliver, so next week should be good also.
It's sad when running NYC general freight pays better than a class 2 load to Baltimore...but whatever...it's overheight and that's what they want to get to class 1, so I'll do it.
But yeah, I'm still floating. I'm not doing GREAT by any means, but I'm not as bad as it could be.
I even got my truck washed this week!
