Okay, I'm back to this thread.

I get why some guys bi*ch about Swift. I see what some drivers do, and I'm not perfect either.
Swift is not perfect by any stretch of imagination, and from the inside view, it needs lots and lots and lots, and lots of work to be decent company.
But, by seeing how it operates, anyone can tell where the value for Swift lies. Once you get that, Swift doesn't seem like it's any worse than others (not that I know anyone else).
Only CRE is worse... its hard to see how bad it is when your already at the bottom. The good news... it ain't as bad as CRE. Get a year, keep your CDL clean, no accidents, and you can move up. Getting into the biz and staying clean is the whole game where you're at right now.

At least Swift gives him an actual OTR truck to drive, and doesn't confiscate half his pay if he doesn't get 32 mpg.

Yeah.

He hasn't done this yet:

Never say never. I came close few times. I realized that I may try to do this after about 10 hours of driving (anything above 550 miles). I'm going to play safe and only drive what I feel I can safely.

I pushed my luck few times, lucky or not, there were other nice drivers that helped me out. Most are from Swift, we 'look out' for each other, I guess... but some other trucking company and from other countries.

Thanks, Man.

Yeah, but have ya got backing in a parking slot at the truck stop down to under an hour, or do ya just leave it in the middle of the entrance if its after dark?
