I had a tooth pulled a few months ago. The doctor wrote me a script for Oxycodone 5-325 for 25 pills. I have never done well with pain pills. Make me feel sick. My tooth did not hurt at all so I didn't take any. A while ago I took one just for the hell of it. I grew up in the 70's so I've taken my share of drugs. Anyways, I didn't feel ANY different at all.

So my question is. What is all the hype over this drug on the streets? Did I take it wrong? Do you have to crush and snort it?

If this is such a sought after drug why would a dentist write me a script for 25!!!! Do you think he thought he was doing me a favor?

i have been on Hydrocodone/ ACETAMINOPHEN 5-325 and Oxycodone/ACETAMINOPHEN 5-325 as well. still have them in fact,

the 325 (i believe) is Tylenol....the 5 is the oxy or hydro.

can't say how the druggies get high on tylenol, or the oxy/hydro, maybe they mash them up and use a needle, maybe they snort.

like an alcoholic, they can drink washer fluid (like Kitty Dukakis did) and get drunk......

I have never seen OXY in a 5-325 pill. That is typically Tylenol with codine. The real OXY is as strong as morphine or valium it don't take much.

Then they mix with a drink or something else. I have lost multipul family members to pill habits. It sucks. I hate opioids. Wish they would find an alternative pain treatment.

Oxycodone 5/325 is Percocet. You're correct. The 5 mg is the narcotic portion and the 325 is the Tylenol portion. Does nothing for me as well. For some if makes them eurphoric. But for many of us, ibuprofen knocks at the pain 100 times better. The quantity of 25 isn't that outrageous to me, because if you were in pain and took one every 4-6 hours and it did work for you, that would help you for less than a week. Lortab (Hydrocodone/Percocet) makes me sick too. I get nauseous, itchy and headaches. Maybe that's why the first person to snort the stuff did .....

This is the stuff I use for aches and pains.

Non-narcotic so I don't have to worry about stuff. Much faster relief it would seem to me too. Powder seems to absorb faster than having to have the pill break down and then absorb.

Goody’s® Extra Strength Headache Powder

Doc gets a little leary of giving me anything significant for pain. And when they do, I get closely watched for some reason now.

heart issues, BP issues...perhaps..>????

i cannot take certain over the counter meds anymore either, due to HBP.

i used to take some sort of "cold remedies", he said not to do that any more...but i still do, otherwise, a "simple cold" now for me turns into a sinus infection, and now antibiotics, chest x-rays, codeine cough syrups....

I take hydrocodone on rare occasions when my arthritis is particularly troublesome, but only after I'm in bed ready to go to sleep. I don't take it for the pain. That's what ibuprofen is for. I take it so I can get to sleep while the ibuprofen takes effect. I cut a 7.5mg tablet in half and swallow that.

I do get a little pleasant euphoric feeling from it, but it only lasts long enough for me to drift off.

I just learned that Missouri is supposedly the only state that still doesn't have a prescription drug monitoring program which helps authorities to identify black marketing.

I heard a bit on the radio a few weeks ago saying that TN prescribes oxy at the rate of more than 1 script for each resident!

A lot of people claim that the recent spikes in heroin addiction are because people get hooked on oxy and then get cut off so they hit the streets.

Its not just "a lot of people," its doctors and law enforcement. Say you get a ligament tear or a severe sprain. The ER prescribes oxy, you get a refill or two, and then you get cut off.

Cold Turkey.

By that time many folks are hooked, and start into opioid withdrawal. Your local street pusher now has a new prospect. So the "new" heroin epidemic isn't losers on the street. Its middle and upper class folks with good jobs, housewives, people with real lives.

Because the drug companies pushed oxy as a "safe alternative" to opioids that wouldn't make patients dependant on it when it was introduced 30 years ago. Except that's exactly what happens, and the FDA has been going after doctors for over prescribing, and writing scripts without a serious patient history.

So a guy, with a life, who is getting hooked on oxy after an ACL injury from playing a game of pickup basketball, gets dropped from his pain med by the ER. Doesn't have a referral to a pain specialist, who won't talk to him because the FDA is breathing down his neck. So our guy can't get anything to help with the withdrawal symptoms. Goes to the street, and now he's shooting Mexican Brown.
