You can make money off YouTube (just ask @GroceryHauler ) and I think that's whats going on here.
To do so would require someone to voluntarily humiliate themselves online for chump change though.
Groceryhauler posted what it pays once, and it wasn't a lot.

@GroceryHauler is just once case though. There are people building followings by doing goofy stuff on YouTube and making a very productive living doing it.
I bet that's how Fwanshish pays for his video games.
I heard something recently about a subscription service that allows people to watch you nearly 24/7 for a fee.
The bit was about some 14 year-old [I think] who was making pretty good money at it.
