As we reported last week, for nearly 20 years, the NRA has fought tirelessly to oppose any United Nations effort to undermine the constitutional rights of law-abiding American gun owners. That fight has grown more intense lately, as the U.N. and global gun banners have markedly stepped up their attack on our Second Amendment freedoms by including civilian arms in the proposed Arms Trade Treaty.

As called for in a resolution adopted by the U.N. General Assembly in 2009, a conference began this week in New York City to draft the treaty's language. The United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty is one of the most serious threats to American gun owners in decades.

The NRA will continue to maintain a strong presence at the ATT meeting, which will run through July 27. And we will continue to champion the position that any ATT must in no way impact gun owners' rights.

US Congressmen Selling Out Constitution To UN

Representatives from openly socialist and communist states, along with those from other dictatorial regimes began meeting in New York on July 2 and will run through the 27. The reason for such a meeting? These leaders will be finishing up an international Arms Trade Treaty that has the potential to seriously override our Second Amendment rights to own, purchase and even carry a firearm. Not only is globalist George Solos funding the fight to help the United Nations in controlling you and your guns, but even U. S. Congressmen are promoting this stuff.
Joe Wolverton, over at the New American reports on Soros’ involvement:
George Soros is financing the fight to give the United Nations control of your guns.
Through his Media Matters organization, Soros is dumping pro-UN gun control propaganda into the mainstream media to coincide with the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty being held in New York July 2–27.

In a blog post published on July 3, Timothy Johnson of Media Matters describes the notion that the United Nations would ever try to take away the right of Americans to keep and bear arms “laughable.”
Johnson goes on to promote the passage of the UN’s Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) as a means of “curtailing the illicit arms trade” and thus cracking down on those who use these weapons to deny others their “human rights.”
There is no doubt that Soros and other globalists would love nothing more than to go completely around the U.S. Constitution, using “binding treaties” and have their blue helmets from the UN come into our homes and disarm the population. Soros though is not the only one after this. Both Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton support the Treaty. In October 2009, the Obama administration reversed the previous Administration’s position and decided to support the negotiation of the Treaty.
The Senate must approve the treaty before it would be implemented. Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS), along with 44 other Senators, sent a letter to Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton encouraging them to stop trying to push the UN’s agenda with this treaty. That’s less than half of the elected representatives of the people who will not stand up to something that is literally seeking to undermine the U.S. Constitution that they swore an oath to uphold and defend when they became senators. Please see the letter to see who stood behind the letter and thank them for doing so and if your senator’s name is not on the letter you might want to hound them in whatever way you can in order to voice your disapproval of their spineless behavior.
    In the letter Moran writes,
Our country’s sovereignty and the Second Amendment rights of American citizens must not be infringed upon by the United Nations. Today, the Senate sends a powerful message to the Obama Administration: an Arms Trade Treaty that does not protect ownership of civilian firearms will fail in the Senate. Our firearm freedoms are not negotiable.
As if it wasn’t bad enough that less than half the senators wouldn’t sign the letter to the President and the Secretary of State, several congressmen think the treaty is basically benign. In fact, they think it’s a wonderful idea for the United Nations to dictate to America how we deal with firearms.
Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), along with other congressmen, even circulated a letter last week to both Hillary Clinton and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice which said that they “strongly urge the United States to take a leadership role in pushing for a strong, verifiable Arms Trade Treaty.” Not only that, but they insist that the treaty include “controls on a comprehensive list of weaponry, including small arms and light weapons,” as well as controls on ammunition.
This is very serious business. Thankfully some senators have proposed a bill that would “prohibit funding to negotiate a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty that restricts the Second Amendment rights of United States citizens.” I applaud their efforts and encourage all freedom loving Americans to support them against the domestic enemies of the U. S. Constitution, including our own President and Secretary of State.

    No problem.
Article VI takes care of such things................

All Debts contracted and Engagements entered into, before the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be as valid against the United States under this Constitution, as under the Confederation. This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

And a more detailed explanation of what this means............

Blowbama is willing to allow the UN to do away with an ammendment to OUR Constitution, seems to me that is VERY close to treason!!!

another thing to keep in mind, Ahmadinejad is on the committee drafting this treaty. a dictator whos stated goal is to destroy America!!

Quite honestly everything the idiot-in- chief has done so far pales in comparison, he swore to uphold the CONSTITUTION of the UNITED STATES, not the mandates of the UN.
This man has simple GOT TO GO, there is NO way to spin an attack on our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS to justify this outrage!!!

ALL true Americans no matter your view of gun control need to speak LOUDLY against this attack on our CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

on a side note Blowbama sure has given gun and ammo stores the best advertising in HISTORY. Get you guns and ammo now before the stores run out

I don't like guns, but I do believe that we should be allow to own them. Do I own any.....no.......not at the moment. But that is the very reason other countrys don't dare send ground troops in the USA....... There are enough ppl with guns to protect their own property even if our military is nowhere around. Heck some ppl own enough guns they could arm an entire neighborhood if needed.

This UN small arms treaty has been one of Hillary Clinton's pet projects for years. She's no better than Obama.

NRA is taking credit for it.

NRA Stops U.N. Arms Trade Treaty‏

The Conference on the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (U.N. ATT) has broken down and will not report a draft treaty to the member nations.

This is a big victory for American gun owners, and the NRA is being widely credited for killing the U.N. ATT.

For nearly 20 years, the NRA has worked tirelessly to warn American gun owners about the United Nations’ efforts to undermine the constitutional rights of law-abiding American gun owners by putting in place international controls on small arms.

NRA became a recognized Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and has monitored all U.N. activities that could impact on our Second Amendment rights. As a result, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre testified before the U.N. (2012 remarks, 2011 remarks) making it clear that the NRA would fight any international treaty that included civilian arms.

NRA worked with our allies in the U.S. Congress and successfully assembled strong bipartisan opposition to any treaty that adversely impacts the Second Amendment. On two occasions NRA was successful in convincing a majority of the U.S. Senate to sign letters to President Obama that made it clear that any treaty that included civilian arms was not going to be ratified by the U.S. Senate.

Yesterday (July 26), Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) gathered the signatures of 51 Senators on a letter to President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton opposing any treaty that infringes on our rights.

once the government is able to do away with the 2nd amendment they will be free to do away with the first.
once the first amendment is done away with they will be free to do away with the entire Constitution, probably to be replaced with an updated version of Mein Kampf.

Its always an issue at every election.

I dont think guns are going anywhere, and I dont think abortion is going anywhere.

They all campaign on it, but neither can move it.

The commies have been using their plans for the destruction of the health care system as a campaign issue for a long time. Then Obama came along and crashed a couple of jets into it.

We can't get complacent with the 2nd amendment. It won't protect itself.

below is a C/P from an article that puts into words perfectly why we need to protect our 2nd amendment rights.

In Aurora, Colorado, there were no armed bystanders and Holmes was unimpeded in his deadly rampage. Gun control advocates use the grizzly story of the Aurora movie theater to push their cause. But common sense tells us that it is easier to put guns into the hands of law-abiding citizens and to instruct them in their use than to keep them away from the insane or evil people who perpetrate these shootings.

Looks like they forgot to cut out the white from between Nazi Pelosi's legs.

That's ok, .. I don't blame them for not wanting to zoom in on that area.

There are many incidents every day that I think prove the deterrence and self defense advantage to having armed citizens in the general population, simply because the police can't be everywhere all the time. When seconds count, the police are only minutes away..........

But after hearing the details about the gunman in Aurora, that's one of the few incidents that don't strengthen either side of the gun issue - pro or con.

No amount of background check, registration or any other law could have or would have prevented that man from doing what he did. His background was clean, he methodically planned his actions and timing, picked random targets and gave no warning signs except possibly to his psychologist, which is confidential and unknown at this point.
On the flip side, in a dark theater during a loud shootout scene, he used smoke grenades or similar device, had body armor from head to toe, and the light behind him while his victims were at every disadvantage. If someone carrying concealed had stood up and fired, assuming they didn't hit fleeing bystanders first, they would have shot him unsuccessfully and very likely emptied their gun without realizing he was protected and been shot anyway. I don't think a cop would have had a chance if he had been in the room.

That doesn't mean that CCW's are never useful, but in this case, I doubt the outcome would have been much different.

even with body armor if 4 or 5 people were unloading on him it would have disabled him body armor might have protected him from penetration but the concussive force from multiple hits from .40s or 45s would have put him down and all body armor has its weak points so there would have been a good chance a few might have found them.

He was wearing a motorcycle helmet from what I heard....I know for a fact that a bullet will penetrate a motorcycle helmet.

If it wasn't a motorcycle helmet....Being hit be a few rounds would have put him down, Body armor or not.

Well, I concede that there are many unknown possibilities in the Aurora shooting, but if the North Hollywood shootout is any indication, I'd still have to say your odds of succeeding are pretty darn slim.......

Remember, this was broad daylight in an empty parking lot, not a dark, crowded, chaotic movie theater.
Again, I'm not against CCW, quite the opposite. I just don't think this particular example is one you want to make that argument with.

I see your point, but the crooks didn't exactly have control of the situation. You could tell when they got hit because they walked around in a daze for a moment and that's all you need to do. Still better to lose the battle, than to lose with no battle.
