After inching up one-tenth of a cent a week ago, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported on Monday, Oct. 6, that the nationwide average has dropped 8.4 cents to $3.875 per gallon for diesel.
The national average price is still 84 cents per gallon higher than during the same time period in 2007.
The New England region is the only one of the nine reporting fuel prices averaging above the $4 mark at $4.036 this past week. The lowest average was reported in the Gulf Coast region at $3.846.
