Americans Protest Around The Country
“..Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable..” These words are imbedded in our Declaration of Independence. Words which speak volumes during this crisis our country faces. We, as a nation, are suffering due directly to our government’s refusal to remove the legislation they have put in place preventing America from becoming energy independent. And our media community continues to report anything but the truth.
Americans have been organizing in many different groups, demanding action regarding the crisis our nation faces. Millions of Americans have been signing various petitions for our government to release our energy resources…allowing America to pursue energy independence. All we have done thus far has been met with no results from our Elected Representatives. They have foolishly wasted valuable time pursuing actions of little importance to protect America and her citizens. It is time we come together as one and voice our concerns and needs. Not as several groups attempting to accomplish the same goal…but as one nation demanding our Elected Representatives do the job American’s have elected them to do.
Legislation has been introduced to expedite permitting of new refineries, as well as expansion of existing refineries…only to fail to pass…resulting in the importing of almost 7 billion gallons of refined fuel. Legislation has been introduced to unlock our resources…only to be held up in committees…resulting in the importing of over 60% of our energy needs. Placing Americans at the mercy of foreign countries...sending trillions of American dollars overseas. Legislation has been introduced to address the serious problem of speculation in our energy market…only to be held up in committee…resulting in the continued effects of speculation in our energy market. What legislation this Democratic controlled Congress has passed did nothing to address this serious problem. Americans continue to suffer high energy costs and the loss of hundreds of thousands of American jobs because our government refuses to act in the best interests of the people they took an oath to protect and serve.
All the different aspects causing the high cost of energy could be resolved with one simple act…increasing the supply of energy resources. Our government, the media and the experts are all refusing to acknowledge this to the American people. By aggressively pursuing the production of American resources will increase the tight margin between supply and demand. You don’t need to be an expert in economics to understand this basic principle. Just the act of pursuing domestic production will result in a positive outcome. Our President lifted the moratorium on our OCS, and the price of a barrel of oil has dropped by over $10/bbl. The media reports state this drop in price is due to economic fears…this is not true. During this price drop a strike action occurred in another country - an action which has consistently brought about dramatic increases in price over the past several months. This alone indicates the act of pursuing domestic production will result in positive change in the price of energy resources.
The time of signing petitions and expecting others to get our government to act has passed. It is time for all Americans to put aside their differences and come together as one. To take our voice to the legislators of our country and demand they act according to the will of the American people.
On August 27th at 12:00pm (EST), bring your protest signs…your bullhorns…your voice to your State Capitol. Join together with your fellow Americans and express your concerns and needs to your legislators. Tell them America needs more refineries to eliminate the importing of refined fuel. Tell them America needs to pursue domestic production of our resources now…eliminating our dependence on foreign countries for our energy needs. Tell them we need a sound economic package - both the utilization of our oil resources AND pursuit of alternative resources for our future…a direction of energy independence which allows for the economic relief of high energy prices and the pursuit of future technologies. Tell them to act according to the best interests of American citizens…the people they have taken an oath to protect and serve.
It is time for Americans to stand up and speak out. Not from the comfort of your home, but in person. The current legislative session is scheduled to break on August 25th. Your Elected Representatives will be back in their respective states. This is the time to take our concerns to our Elected Representatives. Nothing is apparently going to get done unless we, as one nation, get in their face…up close and personal.
