| Good lord, some of you folks are so incredibly wrong, it's unreal. I was raised dirt poor in South Texas on a farm that my family couldn't afford to own, just worked it. Parents didn't graduate high school, dad didn't even finish the 6th grade.
My parents were 50 and 42 when I was born, and they were young folks when the Great Depression hit. There were no movies, cool toys, a car for graduation..none of that stuff.
I did a career in the military and was forced out before I wanted out by the Clinton-approved and Phil Graham authored Graham-Rudman Budget Reduction Acy that cost almost 60% of our military folks their careers. Almost 60%, within 6 months...including me, were gone. Try that one on for size, sports fans.
I worked in retail after getting out, both in automotive service and sales, and ended up as an expert witness for 6 years in lemon law and breach of warranty cases - for consumers, not dealerships or car manufacturers.
I worked my tail off during all of this to land 3 degrees, put both boys through community college and a full blown automotive technical school, and thank GOD I had the great job I did, since my lawfirm shut down my health insurance when my son's cancer treatment costs went over 1 million dollars, I was left to pay over $180,000 in medical bills. I did that in 3 years without filing bankruptcy.
So, Bandit especially, if you have a problem with me, you can pucker up and kiss my Fruit of the Looms...since I've paid my dues and worked hard in my life, done lots of community and charity work, have 3 active charities RIGHT NOW....and STILL don't like it when people whine without having the guts to do something about whatever they're whining about instead of just whining and crying like some helpless little kid.
I commented about people whining without a solution or idea to correct what they're whining about...and now I'm "condescending" and "not suffering".
How dare you assume I'm not suffering - I lost my business, lost a car and some other assets, and we fight every day to keep our Dodge Ram that we pay almost $5 a gallon to put diesel in. My wife and I worked for Covenant for 6 months while we drew $50-60 paychecks several weeks and always got the run around about getting loads, having to fight tooth and nail for every mile we got.
We left there and went to Hammonds Trucking in Alabama - that rinky dink place is running 20 year old rolling DOT shutdowns for equipment and on our first run, sat in Washington for almost 2 weeks waiting for a load.
She got out of it, is going back into the medical admin field, and I start for Indian River tomorrow.
It's amazing the attitudes that a couple of you folks ASSUME about me. My name is Jim Lewis - I'll give you the shirt off my back and my last dollar if it'll help you, so don't you DARE attack me with all of your stereotypes.
