Wall Street was searching for direction Monday afternoon as financial stocks continued to slump and a production increase from Saudi Arabia wasn't enough to cool off crude oil prices.
Today's Market
As of 12:08 p.m. EDT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 17.02 points, or 0.14% to 11825.91, the Standard & Poor’s 500 index fell 0.64 points, or 0.05%, to 1317.29 and the Nasdaq Composite Index lost 14.44 points, or 0.60%, to 2391.65. The consumer-friendly FOX 50 fell 1.13 points, or 0.12% to 916.76.
Stocks have been drifting between slight gains and losses throughout the day. The result, so far, has been a failure to rebound from Friday's ugliness, when the Dow lost more than 200 points on a series of negative developments and some renewed pessimism on behalf of traders.
