To Our Elected Representatives,

Professional drivers are still being driven into bankruptcy. Companies are still going under. American jobs are still being lost. More American families are losing their homes. These are realities you, Our Elected Representatives, continues to allow with your in-action.

We have taken our voice to the hill and spoke of the actions we need. We have impressed upon you, Our Elected Representatives, the actions necessary to protect our way of life. We have given you, Our Elected Representatives, the information, and direction, to accomplish the necessary action we need.

During the week of June 16-20, 2008, you, Our Elected Representatives, once again did nothing to help professional drivers or American citizens. You, Our Elected Representatives, have once again allowed another week of suffering. More jobs have been lost, homes have been lost, businesses have gone under due to our current economic crisis, which can be addressed if you, Our Elected Representatives, would just act. You, Our Elected Representatives, continue to talk but get nothing done to help America. You, Our Elected Representatives, continue to bicker and point fingers instead of coming together in the interest of Americans to get something positive done.

During the week of June 16-20, 2008:

You, our Elected Representatives, have once again violated your oath to the American people. And to add to that violation - you, our Elected Representatives, have passed unconstitutional legislation…violating Americans 4th Amendment rights. Have you no shame? Our country’s current economic and energy crisis should take precedence over all other matters. You, our Elected Representatives, have used the guise of national security to attack the right of Americans to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects.

We have seen attempts to address the manipulation of America’s energy prices, only to be ignored by the majority of our Elected Representatives. We have seen the attempt by Rep. Westmoreland to get the U.S. House to commit to acting according to the will of the American people - only to be ignored by the majority of our Elected Representatives (170 Reps out of 435 have committed themselves to the American people.)

We have seen you, our Elected Representatives, authorize the additional spending of millions, if not billions, of taxpayers’ money for federal employees, instead of acting to stop the raping of American citizens hard earned income…the American citizens you expect to pay this added expenditure. You, our Elected Representatives, have referenced yourself as a business needing to be competitive as such - even a simple minded businessman knows if you don’t have the money…you don’t incur a debt you can’t afford - and America can not afford this added expense you have placed upon our shoulders.

We have seen you, our Elected Representatives, take action regarding monkey bites instead of the crisis our country is facing. We have seen you, our Elected Representatives, commit to spending billions of additional taxpayers money on a war which you, our Elected Representatives, promised to bring to an end over 18 months ago. We have seen you, our Elected Representatives, spend valuable time discussing and voting upon Public Radio Recognition Month, instead of using that valuable time addressing our country’s crisis. We have seen you, our Elected Representatives; vote on a bill regarding a cemetery in Montana, instead of addressing our country’s current crisis.

Millions of Americans are speaking out, demanding you act according to the will of the American people…whom you, our Elected Representatives, have taken an oath to serve and protect…only to ignore our demands for action. You, our Elected Representatives, continue to allow American citizens to suffer at the hands of not only big business, but at the hands of our own government. You, our Elected Representatives, are destroying our country with your inaction to address the crisis our country faces. Americans are not going to stand for this much longer. Americans are at the edge of losing everything and you, our Elected Representatives, refuse to act…refuse to unlock our resources; allowing Americans to do something…refuse to realize the destructive nature of your ignorance to our country’s crisis…

We will remind you in the words of our founding fathers and demand you act according to the will of the American people. --

…That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. Once again…
Actions Needed Immediately:

1.) We are now demanding you, our Elected Representatives, to call for an emergency session to address our country’s crisis. Because you, our Elected Representatives, have wasted valuable time - addressing issues of no importance to our country’s crisis - we are demanding you remain in session until these issues are addressed.

2.) The immediate passing of S.2910 & H.R.5977 (TRUCC) to bring transparency to the trucking industry. To put professional drivers in the position of being able to make proper decisions regarding their business. It is only right that a businessman should be given the right to know he is being fairly paid for his services. Remove the broker’s ability to continue to rob our professional drivers…the backbone of this great country’s economy.

3.) The immediate action necessary, as testified by Mr. Greenberger, Mr. Soros, Mr. Ramm and Dr. Cooper, before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation regarding the re-instatement of commodity regulations which existed for 78 years before you, Our Elected Representatives, abandoned/changed those regulations…thus leading up to the current economic crisis America faces today. Testimony has been given by intelligent, competent and knowledgeable individuals. Individuals very much aware of the market they speak about.

4.) A commitment to open your doors to more than special interest groups, large corporations and commission representatives…but to professional drivers, and American citizens, with pertinent input to what’s happening to us. A commitment to pursue listening...acting accordingly to the will of the American people. A commitment to become more aware and active with the American people you represent. A commitment to understand the realities of what your decisions on the hill does to the American people.

America is standing on the edge of economic collapse and you, Our Elected Representatives, continue to not take the immediate steps, and action, necessary to protect our country. We are in need and you, Our Elected Representatives, are not doing the job we have elected you to do. We will continue to speak out and demonstrate through slow-downs and protests across the nation. As each passing week goes by which you, Our Elected Representatives, do not get something done…we will continue to grow even larger in number and strength…eventually leading to an America shut-down if necessary. If you, Our Elected Representatives, do not take the steps, and actions, needed to protect our country - there soon will be no country to protect. As Americans, we have no choice but to demand - once again - you, Our Elected Representatives, put the interests of the citizens of this nation first, and take the necessary steps NOW to stop the impending disaster facing our nation.

Good letter, I have only one exception with it. I think the consequences for further inaction by them could have been stronger and more urgent. I think they need to be shown that any further stonewalling will result in very strong action by the citizens of America. And then we as American Citizens had better have a plan in place to be able to follow up on the threat. So far they haven't seen anything to push them into action. Only words in emails and on paper.

Well, the threat of action is in that last part, quoting from declaration of independence. You are right - they are stubborn, stupid and slow so we might have to spell it out for them.

I also support start DRILLING NOW..I believe they need to do ALL these things..drill, investigate investors, have an eye on oil companies, find alternatives, coal, nuclear..ALL of it..not sit there and picker..after all if One thing don't work, hell stop doing it!

[Message to all Americans -- members of this forum and visitors]

Some things are worth fighting to the last breath. I believe our Constitution, and this great nation, is the most important battle to fight. The majority of Americans have forgotten, or given up, in the understanding the battle to protect our Constitution, and way of life, is a constant battle each generation must fight. Our government has been destroying our rights for several decades, and we have allowed this to happen. It's not our government which should fight for the protection of our Constitution - it's the American citizens. Our Constitution is very clear in it's content that our government derives it's power from the consent of the governed.

Do not lay down to our government's continued ignorance to act according to the will of the American People. Continue to fight for the protection of our Constitution. One thing before I go ...... There are NOT enough offshore drilling rig plateforms to do any good by drilling off shore in the next five years or longer.

THE ONLY PLACE TO DRILL THAT IS ALREADY PUMPING OIL AT $10.00 to $16.00 A BARREL IS THE BAKKEN OIL FIELD. THEY JUST NEED TO ADD ANOTHER 50 TO 100 MORE WELLS THAT COULD COME ON LINE IN THE TIME THE OIL COMPANY CAN GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER TO EVEN START DRILLING OFF SHORE ONE OR TWO WELLS AT A TIME.

You are neglecting to pay attention to history. In the 80's when oil was increasing at a dramatic rate, America responded with action. We initiated the creation of Synthethic Fuel Corportation to pursue energy independence from imports. The reaction, to just the beginning of that pursuit, was oil dropped by more than half. The mistake America made then was to stop the investment we were making in Synthetic Fuel Corporation...thus destroying something which could have possibly made a difference in our current crisis - if not preventing the situation our country is in.

Just the commitment, and action, of our government to pursue expanding domestic production (opening up of restricted areas) will create the positive effect we need regarding our energy cost crisis.

Another very nice letter SS. With all due respect, that's all it is, another nice letter. I don't see you or the people who are supposed to be your regional Truckers Reps. doing one thing to get some kind of immediate action to help stop the daily crisis of Independent Truckers losing their businesses. I have said it time and time again, these people can't sit on their asses and wait months and years for the lapdog politicians to have all their meetings and fights over who has the best plan or to find out if the things you're telling them in all your letters is really true and they wind up in a stalemate in the end anyway. I don't see ya'll even trying to come up with a plan to try and help these people hang on for awhile longer. It's almost like you are willing to lose the ones going under right now as "collateral damage" for your long term agenda. These People Need Help Now !! You said Foxx wasn't paying attention to history. Well, I don't think you are paying too much attention to it yourself. Take a long look at the history of politcians in Washington ever doing anything at all to help the Independent Truckers of this country. I do believe that this is still a "Truckers Forum" first and foremost. We who are fighting to save our industry would love to have the help of the American Citizenship and in turn will help them in anyway possible, but I am here to try to help save the Independent Truckers of this country and I think everyone here needs to start concentrating and focusing on that battle. Every time I post this same statement, you seem to just blow it off and go right back to writing letters and watching CNN & CSPAN to see what good you might be doing. Every time you see the lapdog politicians having another meeting you think you have gotten something done. They have had meeting after meeting the past few weeks, and what have they done to help save these peoples businesses or help any American Citizens for that matter? Not a damn thing. Ya'll read these posts and sit there and say "Bandit's nothing but a troublemaker". Well, this troublemaker has been involved in this industry for 45yrs. now and I have never once seen the government do a damn thing for the good of the industry. They have made promise after promise over the years, but never, not one promise kept. What makes you think they have changed and your letters are going to make them do their jobs Now? Do you think you know something special that we haven't known in the past 45yrs. or maybe we were all just too stupid and went about things all wrong back then. I have gotten pretty good at pissing people off on here lately, and I think that might be a good thing. Maybe by pissing some of you off I can get you to open your eyes and realize that this industry needs action Now. We can't afford to wait for the lapdogs to do their typical Washington fighting and lobbying back and forth for months and years. Someone told me a long time ago, "Letters are nice, and a handy form of communication, but they are also the reason Wastebackets were made". Once read, most are too soon forgotten. Think of me what you will or what you think you must, but please Start doing something to help this Industry Now...Help these Independents and their families hold on to their lives before anymore go under. Please don't let the lapdog politicians bluff their way out again>....

Bandit, what are your suggestions, what do you think we should be doing? I will never stop contacting our government because i feel that it would be letting them off the hook, but on the other hand I am ready, willing and able to work on any other idea that is presented that can help all of us. Please feel free to offer up suggestions, I am out of ideas at the moment.

Sending letters like this is a good first step, and something that needs to be kept up.

It is all for nothing though unless the citizens of this Country back it up with some educated voting. Stop voting down party lines, and start voting in every election there is.

TTW, I have said it over and over again. It's simple, Protest, Make Noise, Protest, Make Noise, and keep doing it until someone pays attention. Make enough of a commotion that we get on the news every day, in every state we can. Sitting her typing letters isn't causing any grief to anyone. It isn't causing anyone to stand up and be noticed. We have to start showing we mean business and we're not waiting for debates between politicians, we have to show that we are hurting bad enough to do whatever we have to do to get help right now. We have to get enough people out making noise and protesting to get the rest of the country to want to join in. How long have we been writing letters to representatives now? Yes, I said WE. I too have been sending letters right along with the rest of you. How many changes have you seen made. How much help have you seen them give the people who have lost and are about to lose their businesses and their means of supporting their families. Not One Damn Thing.. We are not showing them that we need HELP NOW!!! As long as all we are doing is writing letters, they have nothing to worry about. Letters aren't hurting anyone and the only one who sees it is the one who it is sent to. I don't know anymore TTW, I've tried and tried and there just isn't enough people willing to get out an make enough noise to get anything done. 100 trks here and 100 trks there isn't making NOISE. We need Hundreds upon Hundreds of trks blocking traffic, tying up cities everywhere. Then you will get action. I'm not advocating violence, but I am advocating breaking a few traffic laws. You have to make yourself a Big Pain In The Ass to get anything done in this country. A Big Enough Pain In The Ass that they want to shut you up. Then and only then will they really be willing to make changes.......I've given my suggestions and input......now it's someone elses turn. Ya'll Have An Awesome Evening
