What a pleasure to hear from you. Thank you for contacting me to express your support for alternative and renewable fuels. Hearing from constituents on issues of concern is important to me and my office as we work to represent our district.

On July 28, 2005, the United States House of Representatives passed HR 6, the Energy Policy Act of 2005 by a vote of 275-156. I voted for this legislation and spoke in favor of it on the House floor. After Senate passage, President Bush signed HR 6 into law on August 8, 2005.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 has many provisions to decrease our dependence on foreign oil and to lessen energy prices, including a research and development program to promote the use of hydrogen fuel in vehicles, and a renewable fuels requirement to add 4 billion gallons per year of ethanol and other renewable based fuels to our nation's gasoline in 2006 and at higher levels after 2006. The bill also increases the amount of biofuels (including ethanol) that must be mixed with gasoline sold in the United States, and increases the current requirements to 7.5 billion gallons by 2012. In addition, Section 701 of the bill requires that the United States Federal fleet of flex-fuel vehicles to operate on alternative fuels 100% of the time. Prior to passage, such flex-fuel vehicles were required to be operated by the end of 2005 on alternative fuels only 51% of the time.

You will be pleased to know that I am a member of the Republican Energy Working Group and the House Energy Action Team. On June 6, 2007, we unveiled a wide-ranging American energy policy that offers a long-term vision that looks to exploration and the use of cutting-edge technology to provide clean, affordable and consistent American-made energy sources for decades to come. This energy policy will focus of the exploration of renewable and alternative fuels, such as bio-diesel and solar, and promote the construction of new nuclear power plants as well as new innovative energy technologies. It will also support increased investment and use of alternative and renewable fuels, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on the House Energy and Commerce Committee on this important issue in the 110th Congress.

Please know that I appreciate both your interest and your time in contacting us on this issue. As the discussion and debate moves forward on this and other issues please feel free to visit our website at U.S. Congressman Marsha Blackburn where you can sign-up for our email update -- the Blackburn Report, updates on important issues; find information on constituent services; read columns, recent press and the latest legislative news; all of which affect and concern the people of Tennessee.

Sincerely,
That's funny, yesterday the same thing happened to me with Senator Lamar Alexander, I have sent him so many letters that i wasent' sure what his letter would be about, when i started reading it i was shocked, it was about the enviornment, I had not sent one email that his letter would apply to.. That really pisses me off.

Why didn't they just write.."Shut up..you are not worth my time! "
At least it would have been honest!

I just found the letter from the senator, the first sentence reads;
Thanks very much for getting in touch with me and letting me know what's on your mind regarding climate change.
What the hell is he talking about, i think they contacted the wrong person. I'm going to save the letter and if
I ever get a chance to bitch at someone i'm going to show them the letter I received and let them know
how much our government listens to us..

I wouldn't worry about small numbers, it will snowball as you get there, use c.b.
Just another thought, CNN HQ, downtown atlanta. Let's see if they can ignore something happening in their frontyard. July4th?

I really don't think they even read them anymore, on the bottom some say do not reply to this e-mail. That means auto b.s.
I really don't think a protest on any Capital right now will matter, they want it calm and will tell us what they think we want to hear till after the elec.and then it won't start to get busy on the hill till after the new Prez. is in office and that wont be till Jan. Also remember soon the house wont be in session, summer break, and from soon after the Nov. election they will be on Christmas break er excuse me winter break.
I don't know?
