    The goal of a boycott?

I realize it would be to lower gas prices but through what means? I'm not asking in a bad way I am just curious. At the end of a successful boycott would the ideal action be congress pushing for drilling for American oil, putting more pressure on Suadi and other importers to drill more, lowering the huge amount of federal and state taxes on each gallon of gas, etc. I'm afraid at the end of a well organized, large scale boycott even if the gov is shown they have to do something and do it now that there will be months and months of beaucratic floundering. I support nearly any kind of effort to lower gas prices and our dependency on foreign oil , just curious. Might be something anyone who is considered a spokesman might want to think about.

IF this has already been answered in another post I apologize I could not find it, please redirect me and delete this if so.

You ask a good question..The reason for a boycott is basically to show them that we can fight back. They can charge whatever they choose for gas, well we can still choose where we spend our money and who we purchase it from. They put our backs against a wall and we can make a difference in a companies profit. It is to send a message to them that we do have some power and control.

Id say some of the more militant members here would say all of the above or atleast a combination of a few of the things listed. If it is going to be left to the goverment to do something you will be right about the months and months of bureaucratic floundering.

P.S. I say militant in the nicest way.

Thats what I figured. Whoever are leaders/spokesmen might want to think about it and choose some direction. It wouldn't sound good if you got some attention then when asked what you think should be done to give a long uhhh...

You can check out "Statement to Government" and "oil manipulation" threads, "in the news" as well. Short answer is we don't care how... just do it now. Unlike Europe where taxes are half the cost, federal tax is 18 cents, state tax avg might be 50 cents, the rest is just oil.
We learned last week in senate hearing on 6/3/08 that we've doubled leases since 2004
Why ain't they drilling? You tell me as I empty my bank acct to fill up.
Even if we opened everyone's backyard to drilling they still export the oil and buy from foreign countries to keep raping us! My solution is to deport all CEOs who do this along with the ones shipping our jobs overseas. Let them live in their new country and never return!
Even the Saudis admit the price shouldn't be this high. Maybe $50 or $60. The Bankers who lost their ass on mortgages are trying to recoup by speculating on commodities causing a world wide crisis, again check out threads and you'll find answers and law changes that are proposed.
The goal-TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK BY WHATEVER MEANS NECCESSARY

The fastest way would be to lower the tax's.
That in it's self would bring a large drop.
Then go next to our own drilling.
ect...........................
Also I alway's thought double taxation was not legal, If this is true why do we pay tax at the pump, and then again once a year fuel tax?

I hear you . The amount of beaucracy and lack of common sense used lately by our congress is disgusting. Did you know part of our taxes go to the senate have their own private restuarants in D.C.? Anyways don't want to get of topic. Glad to hear some thought has been put into the specifics.

I may have misunderstood you if you're talking strictly boycott. From the beginning I have said let's blockade D.C. - NOW. "Oh no, that's illegal" Ask me if I care! I'm fed up with little rich boys gettin fat off of me and I put most of the blame on that SORRY S.O.B. TEXAS OIL MAN IN THE WHITEHOUSE!!!

I wouldn't support illegal means of action, I said boycott but really it could go for in general efforts as well.

Did anyone hear yesterday about one of the governors mansion's being burnt down. I heard it on CNN but forgot which state. They said it was being renovate and most of the valuables were not in it but that arson was suspected. It really made me wonder why someone did it and were they trying to send a message.. I also saw on Truckers and Citizens web site, where a 64 year old woman said she felt like she had to do something about gas prices so she took fireplace logs and set them on fire at 2 gas station bathrooms and also a Starbucks (?). I belived this was in California. Let me say that is don't condone anyone burning down any place or anything of this nature. I had thoughts more along the lines of protests at the state capitols.

I'm sorry but i have to agree with Rebel, the other countries are not worried about doing everything by the book. Everything is only getting worse. Are we really suppose to just give up everything to these people. When you and your family are left setting on the streets how will you feel then?

When I lived in Altoona, FL the Navy used to buzz our trailer on their training route over the Ocala forest. I called the base, told'em they were scaring livestock and literally shaking pictures off the wall. They're supposed to maintain 200ft min but I could tell you the color of the pilot's eyes - blue. Nothing changed. When I came back from the Carolinas with some big bottle rockets and put on a show for them you should have seen how fast they climbed back to 200ft plus. Illegal? Dangerous? Stupid? Call it whatever-it worked!
Some time I'll tell you a story about my little brother in the Navy and a phone call I made to his C.O. How many people do you know that have backed down the U.S. government and lived to tell about it? Crazy like a fox.
