IIronman, Don't shoot me, but one more suggestion please, I would add "Protest fuel prices" otherwise people will have no clue other than us and other truckers you tell, what the slowdown is for, you might have alot of followers if they see this is about fuel prices.. I'm done being critical now..lol Sorry.

Excellent suggestion...It reads much better. Thanks.

I just completed changes suggested by bandit...it reads much stronger. You'll need to re-copy it - I think it may now be the final draft unless anyone else has any input.

That's ok dear...I'm hoping thousands upon thousands of truckers and citizens copy this letter and send it to their representatives. I would like to hear about representatives being overwhelmed with this letter. So actually your's is only the first two of many, many more to be sent.

I'm in the process of generating committee lists (specific representatives on specific committees.) I feel we should target those representatives first, then the rest of the five hundred and forty something representatives. It'll take some time, but I'll post each list as I get them done. This will hopefully assist not only the members of this forum as to who to send this letter to (outside of their own representatives,) but the visitors of this forum as well.

Alright everyone...I've been effecting the changes to my original post to prevent excessive posts with this...keeping it in one spot for all to review. I now ask...are we in agreement of this last change being a final draft, or is there any other input or suggestions?

Thanks hun so much for your help on all this, it is greatly appreciated, I'll surely do my part in circulating this letter..I guess you read where i sent Emails and calls to every major industry (airlines, automakers, trucking, teamsters, media) last week to tell them about the Cspan senate hearing to let them know of the injustice that is happening in our country and why their businesses are suffering needlessly.

Yes I did...excellent job with taking the initiative to reaching out to those industries. Keep up the good work.

Also, I would hold for now on the statement of calling of all professional drivers to shut-down until we reach a level of strength which will be taken more seriously. With the previous shut-down attempts being what they were...making that statement right now would not be taken seriously. We need to reserve that statement for the right moment in time.

I like your change ......

But the threat of a slowdown and/or shutdown is the alterative to what will happen if Congress continues to pass the buck. We can't want for alterative fuel, or more hair-brain ideas like suggesting everyone start taking the bus. We're not talking about an inconvenience to the way we do business in the U.S., we're talking about the a 180 degree change in the way we commute, the way we live, way we vacation, the entire middle class culture in America (the filthy rich won't be effected), and no one is telling us why we should just go alone with the plan. It doesn't take a genius to see that there is plan to make Americans less nomadic to get us off the highways and byways of this nation to make move for the Mexican Truckers. It's we the people, not we the corporations, we the rich, or we the insane. The Congressmen who are allowing this insanity ...... are INSANE! You put insane people in straight-jackets, not pander to them by stroking their hands with money. You can't be nice to Congressmen who just keeps agreeing to the slave drivers in the Corporate world. I think being diplomatic is the way to go, but you need to give some indication as to what the ramification are for not doing what needs to be done to turn things around now ...... to save this nation from the "Corporate Carpetbaggers, the Racketeers, the Organized Crime that is running rampied in this nation. Our highway and bridges are crumbling. Every social service is cutting back, or closing the doors, business are closing for good, airlines are going out of business, there are food shortages, people are starving, senior are frightened to near death, and why .......... Organized Crime, and why is crime out of control, the simple answer is because our Congress is corrupt. If two people conspire to rise or downer prices, by holding product back, that is against the law, period, no if, and, or buts.

This nation is in deep crap right now, while Goldman Sacks holds back millions of gallons of heating oil in the northeast, and drive prices to $4.50 a gallon ... that's a fact, not rumor, not speculative thinking ..... it is a fact, we know it, they know it. The only shortages in this nation and in Europe are conspired.

I remember a joke that was going around when I was growing up ...... If your standing in a river of shit up to your neck, and someone on the bridge above dumped a bucket of snot down on you, would you duck? It is Congresses job to keep this nation out of the river of shit, and we shouldn't have to go begging with hat in hand to get them to do their job they swore on a bible to do. You demand that they do their job in a tactful but direct way.

What we need are laws like those in Italy ..... if the government does not do the job they are appointed to do, the citizens can give a vote of non-confidence, the government is dissolved, and a good one is formed by the new chosen leader. That law came about shortly after citizens hung Mussolini from a light post in the public square.

(Final Draft. Copy/Paste and begin sending out to your representatives.)

************************************************** ********

June 8, 2008

To Our Elected Representatives,

Professional drivers are being driven into bankruptcy. Companies are going under. American jobs are being lost by the tens of thousands. These are realities you, Our Elected Representatives, continues to allow with your in-action.

We have taken our voice to the hill and spoke of the actions we need. We have impressed upon you, Our Elected Representatives, the actions necessary to protect our way of life. We have given you, Our Elected Representatives, the information, and direction, to accomplish the necessary action we need.

We have seen an attempt to do something with the American Energy Production Act of 2008...only to see the majority of you, Our Elected Representatives, vote it down. There’s now bills in both houses sitting in committees (TRUCC -- S.2910 & H.R.5977) without any information regarding when, or if, these desperately needed bills will ever come to be. Bills which are desperately needed to protect professional drivers from the unscrupulous actions by brokers. We have seen the testimony given before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation, detailing the need for regulations within the market to eliminate the speculator’s manipulation of our energy prices. And yet we still have no action from you, Our Elected Representatives. This goes beyond being not acceptable - allowing professional drivers, and American citizens, to continue to be robbed of our way of life. The time has now come for you, Our Elected Representatives, to act. How much more will it take to convince you, Our Elected Representatives, that something has to be done immediately.

Actions Needed Immediately:

1.) The immediate passing of S.2910 & H.R.5977 (TRUCC) to bring transparency to the trucking industry. To put professional drivers in the position of being able to make proper decisions regarding their business. It is only right that a businessman should be given the right to know he is being fairly paid for his services. Remove the broker’s ability to continue to rob our professional drivers…the backbone of this great country’s economy.

2.) The immediate action necessary, as testified by Mr. Greenberger, Mr. Soros, Mr. Ramm and Dr. Cooper, before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation regarding the re-instatement of commodity regulations which existed for 78 years before you, Our Elected Representatives, abandoned/changed those regulations…thus leading up to the current economic crisis America faces today. Testimony has been given by intelligent, competent and knowledgeable individuals. Individuals very much aware of the market they speak about.

3.) A commitment to open your doors to more than special interest groups, large corporations and commission representatives…but to professional drivers, and American citizens, with pertinent input to what’s happening to us. A commitment to pursue listening, and acting accordingly, to the will of the American people. A commitment to become more aware and active with the American people you represent. A commitment to understand the realities of what your decisions on the hill does to the American people.

America is standing on the edge of economic collapse and you, Our Elected Representatives, refuse to take the immediate steps, and action, necessary to protect our country. We are in need and you, Our Elected Representatives, are not doing the job we have elected you to do. We will begin to demonstrate our strength of unity through slow-downs across the nation. As each passing week goes by which you, Our Elected Representatives, does not get something done…we will grow even larger in number and strength…eventually leading to an America shut-down if necessary. If you, Our Elected Representatives, doesn’t take the steps, and actions, needed to protect our country - there soon will be no country to protect. As Americans, we have no choice but to demand you put the interests of the citizens of this nation first, and take the necessary steps NOW to stop the impending disaster facing our nation.

“We The People”

************************************************** ********

I'll create a "National Action" content page on our site, and will hopefully have the first completed list of representatives on specific committees by this evening. I suggest to all, both members and visitors, to begin with emails of this letter to your representatives and then to the members of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation...this is the committee which can effect the immediate change regarding manipulation of our energy prices...this is one of many needed actions, but can be accomplished overnight with action from our elected representatives.

Senate Committee of Commerce, Science & Transportation Members:
U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation

I'm in complete agreement with ya. There needs to be action taken to combat the wrong our government has done, and is doing. But we need to be very decisive on when and how those particular statements are made. As with any action, there must be a respectful, but strong, statement followed by even stronger statements when action is not evident from the opposition. This statement, I believe, will only be the first of many. We need to keep our emotions in check and take the steps necessary to not only put our elected officials on notice, but to gain the support of America. There must be a first step and if we come on strong and hard...we may not succeed at accomplishing the goals at hand.
