Here's what I've got so far. Any input, suggestions or comments are welcomed to whittle this down, or build it up. Once we have something we all agree on...I'll begin putting a list of representatives (by committees) to get this sent to. My bro and I have a contact on the hill willing to assist with this, as well as getting it into the media. She has agreed to help with the condition of not being asked to send anything without thorough thought being put into it first. So don't be surprised if we get a response, with suggestions, regarding our first draft to her...she is very active on the hill and knows what won't work, or be affective, up there.

Alright y'all...don't be bashful, defensive, arguable or upset with any posts in here. This is to begin to get something started. I'll be expecting input from all on this forum. So, without further b.s. ...

[FINAL DRAFT IS POST #35 IN THIS THREAD]
[U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation Member Contact List -- Post #38 in this thread]

To Our Elected Representatives,

Professional drivers are being driven into bankruptcy. Companies are going under. American jobs are being lost by the tens of thousands. These are realities you, Our Elected Representatives, continues to allow with your in-action.

We have taken our voice to the hill and spoke of the actions we need. We have impressed upon you, Our Elected Representatives, the actions necessary to protect our way of life. We have given you, Our Elected Representatives, the information, and direction, to accomplish the necessary action we need.

We have seen an attempt to do something with the American Energy Production Act of 2008...only to see the majority of you, Our Elected Representatives, vote it down. There’s now bills in both houses sitting in committees (TRUCC -- S.2910 & H.R.5977) without any information regarding when, or if, these desperately needed bills will ever come to be. Bills which are desperately needed to protect professional drivers from the unscrupulous actions by brokers. We have seen the testimony given before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation, detailing the need for regulations within the market to eliminate the speculator’s manipulation of our energy prices. And yet we still have no action from you, Our Elected Representatives. This goes beyond being not acceptable - allowing professional drivers, and American citizens, to continue to be robbed of our way of life. The time has now come for you, Our Elected Representatives, to act. How much more will it take to convince you, Our Elected Representatives, that something has to be done immediately.

Actions needed immediately:

1.) The immediate passing of S.2910 & H.R.5977 (TRUCC) to bring transparency to the trucking industry. To put professional drivers in the position of being able to make proper decisions regarding their business. It is only right that a businessman should be given the right to know he is being fairly paid for his services. Remove the broker’s ability to continue to rob our professional drivers…the backbone of this great country’s economy.

2.) The immediate action necessary, as testified by Mr. Greenberger, Mr. Soros, Mr. Ramm and Dr. Cooper, before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation regarding the re-instatement of commodity regulations which existed for 78 years before you, Our Elected Representives, abandoned/changed those regulations…thus leading up to the current economic crisis America faces today. Testimony has been given by intelligent, competent and knowledgeable individuals. Individuals very much aware of the market they speak about.

3.) A commitment to open your doors to more than special interest groups, large corporations and commission representatives…but to professional drivers, and American citizens, with pertinent input to what’s happening to us. A commitment to pursue listening, and acting accordingly, to the will of the American people. A commitment to become more aware and active with the American people you represent. A commitment to understand the realities of what your decisions on the hill does to the American people.

America is standing on the edge of economic collapse and you, Our Elected Representatives, refuse to take the immediate steps, and action, necessary to protect our country. We are in need and you, Our Elected Representatives, are not doing the job we have elected you to do. We will begin to demonstrate our strength of unity through slow-downs across the nation. As each passing week goes by which you, Our Elected Representatives, does not get something done…we will grow even larger in number and strength…eventually leading to an America shut-down if necessary. If you, Our Elected Representatives, doesn’t take the steps, and actions, needed to protect our country - there soon will be no country to protect. As Americans, we have no choice but to demand you put the interests of the citizens of this nation first, and take the the necessary steps NOW to stop the impending disaster facing our nation.

“We The People”

Hey man, I like it the way it is. I probably would have leaned on them a little harder at the end but that's good for starters. I've got a few contacts of my own and I'll tell them to be on the lookout for this letter. Do you need some John Hancocks to sign this?

OK, maybe one thing. Instead of "to whom it may concern" how about "to our employees". Also would you mind if I delivered a copy personally to 1600 Pennsylvania ave around July 4th, please?

The "to our employees" is a good one, but that suggestion has brought the thought of "to our elected officials"...what do you think?

Also, I wouldn't mind one little bit if you were to deliver a copy personally. That's when ya could do the leaning...what ya think...lol.

I'll make the change though to the "to..." That's the type of input I'm looking for.

I also think you need to been a bit more forceful toward in end.....

instead of we implore you......

As Americans we have no choice but to demand you put the interests of the citizens of this nation before those of the oil industry, and take the necessary steps now to stop the pending deaster facing our nation.

They need to be thinking of want will happen if they do not comply to our wishes....."we will have no alterive but to call for all professional drivers to shutdown operations all across the country."

Buzz words that stick in their minds. They need to be thinking of want will happen if they do not comply to our wishes..

Personally after looking at want is happening in Europe today, now is the time to call for a slowdown while the iron is hot all around the world. All of Europe is exploding. Its to bad we can't get it together to join them.

I've been trying to reach friends in London and the south of Paris to see want they can tell me about want is happening.

Good point and suggestion. Although I feel the need to not point to any direct areas of interest since there are so many. How do you feel about this...

"As Americans we have no choice but to demand you put the interests of the citizens of this nation first, and take the the necessary steps NOW to stop the impending disaster facing our nation."

Also, I would hold for now on the statement of calling of all professional drivers to shut-down until we reach a level of strength which will be taken more seriously. With the previous shut-down attempts being what they were...making that statement right now would not be taken seriously. We need to reserve that statement for the right moment in time.

I like it SS. I think, in the 3rd paragraph, it should read "This goes beyond being Not Acceptable". In the same paragraph, "The time has now come for you, our government, to act." I might also think about changing all of the places you have "Our Government", to read, "Our Elected Representatives". All in all I think it is very effective and to the point. Good Job SS.

Nice job SS. So far, only a few details and personally, I think the urgency outweighs any minor detail. We're fixin to get hammered at the pumps. It's a good idea to leave the consequences a little vague. Let's hold the aces and let them sweat. Again, nice job, now gitter dun! S D W !

Hey hun, I really don't mean to be critical but I would only like to point something out. the background is so dark on the truck that i think it would make it hard to be seen easily. Most of the time i think will be seen on the interstate. It is important for the background not to overshadow the words. Needs to be very easy to read. Sorry, i don't want to make you mad, just being honest. Also i would add the "S" onto WEDNESDAY.
