Don't become distracted with the many different statements which will be made about slow-downs on the interstates. Y'all are onto something potentially good to getting attention which is within the law. Minimum speeds are not ticketable offenses as long as you stay to the right. If several hundred, or even thousands of vehicles begin travelling in the right lane at the minimum speed across the nation, with a statement released to the media - as well as government officials (both federal and state,) before the slow-down action...there's bound to be attention in the media regarding the impeding of traffic on major interstates (keep in mind the majority of our interstates are two lanes in one direction.) With a statement, prior to the action, being released...the media will have information to draw upon for their reports. This could be a very powerful statement of unity if done correctly.

My suggestion would not be to select one specific date, but to organize as a weekly action. Example...select a day of the week and promote weekly slow-downs on that particular day. A progressive organizing of Americans could actually be accomplished as each passing week generates more media attention, and it is a potentially great organizational method of getting more Americans involved when citizens are asked to participate one day out of their week. You are not asking for major sacrifice, but asking for citizens to become active with getting something done for America, as well as themselves.

The contact with big trucking companies should pertain to the fuel savings they will get from slowing down, safety issues affecting their insurance rates at slower speeds, and the fact that a slow-down does not violate any of their contracts with their customers. The contact with media and government officials should be strictly based upon the statement released. The contact with American citizens should pertain to getting the needed action from our government to address the current state of our country's economy.

The same day everyweek is the only way to gain momentum with this type of weekly action, and it should be ALL interstate areas...not just major city areas. If the action is seen nation-wide, on all points of the interstates, the media and our government will see the unity being organized by American citizens. The true fear our government has regarding American citizens is the strength of organized Americans. For they know that if Americans truely organize together and become aware and active...our constitution is very specific about the power the citizens truely wield.

Traffic already slows down around, and through, major cities. The area which will generate the most attention is the open interstate regions. There's only two lanes in each direction, and the impeding of traffic flow will be greater...thus generating much more attention as to the why this is happening. People will only perceive slow-downs around major cities as just another day of trafffic.

Just my opinion

That's what I'm leaning towards. It allows everyone to settle into the beginning of the work week. Allows truckers to get their loads on at the beginning of the week and off at the end of the week (I know loads tend to work different than this scenario, but the basic load on/off days are Monday and Friday.)

It also doesn't expect the average American worker give up a lot. Mondays are not a good day for any worker, and Fridays are the beginning of their days off. The middle of the week seems to be the most logical choice.

Slow Down Wednesday
I can get behind this action. The first, and most important item to get done is a clear, concise statement regarding this action. I'll put something together this evening, and I ask all y'all to do the same, and we'll whittle down a good statement to be released. Once this is complete...I'll get it up on our site and speak with bro about getting our contact in D.C. to help get it out to the press and several reps (we'll select the first wave of rep contact to the energy and transportation committees, and then continue to the rest of the 500 and something reps)

You are on to some thing here. Think of this is 1000 trucks and cars slowing to the legal speed in the slow or right lane going to make it hard as heck for traffic to get off or on to the roads hard? or even a 100? Hell yes. And the good part is it is legal. What a great ideal. What can the law do when they see and get 911 calls that traffic is only doing 45 and i cant get up to my exit fast? Im no good with words but you know what i am saying.

Added benefit..I did start to slow down about 4 weeks ago..and guess what..I safe about 500 dollars per week..I get 6.8 MPG
I drive 55 in Ohio and 60 in Ky and TN..I also shift in an lower RPM..try staying in top gear as long as possible..
It does take away from my sleeping time and it does take longer to get to your destination..But these are factors I am willing to take.

yea, he slowed down some it was going north last week that hurt us.
when he gets back in it's time to run the rack, and change all the filters, that will help.
also bought fans to cut back on running the truck for a/c.
Did some math it's cheaper to get a cheap motel room if you need to sit for a week-end then run it.

Every other country have their trucker slowing down, shuting down, throwing rock, rising hell,

and all I see is a lot of people talking about when they will shutdown, slowdown.

The rest of the world is looking to us to join them in protest. But instead we talk, and beg, and talk, and beg..... We heard from Congress this morning, their not going to do anything but add to the price of fuel. Congress can't see the light of day because they can't their head out of the asses of the oil Companies.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as much as told us to piss off. What are you people wanting for! We've been playing patty-cake with Congress for three month, prices keep going up, and now their talking about $6.00 gasoline.

Again ...... what the hell are you people wanting for.

I can just hear God thinking, when are these humans going to get off the asses and act like the trouble makings they always have been?!

You tell me ....... what is it going to take to get the U.S. truckers to join the rest of the world truckers in a protest?!

Don't you people think if the assholes in Washington really gave a shit about you they would have done something to help you before now ???.....Damn, if you're not careful, the whole damn building might fall and hit you in the head, instead of just a couple of bricks.

This is what get's me. U.S,Truckers!
Do This.DO That. What are we wanting for ? Truckers truckers truckers. Shut Em Down.First of all
If we shut down, What are the rest of you going to do? Shut your store's or shops down. Send your monthly Gov.checks back( with proof of doing so I might add) Or sign ur homes over to us free/clear . For every truck that shuts down. after all it's only fear you want us homless with out food with know regard to our rights.
You want the trucks to do this, I'm sure they will if you agree to these terms.People of the United States of America,
What Are you willing to do ?
Take the lead, The truckers you are talking about are not Union, Why dont you focus on the teamster's And Jimmy Hoffa Jr. Instead of the O/O who are out numbered buy the Union drivers maybe at this point with all the Indep. parking 30 or more to1.
You want the trucks to shut down.
Make your stand on them, The other will fall in. That if you think about it should be your first and only concern with a shut - down at this time.
The trucks in the other Countries are Union.
So get to work instead of sitting on your butts behind some computer screen telling a few trucks to give up everything for you. Fight Do something, Start making noise. The teamsters e-mails are on the Board all office's take e-mail except Hoffa's. call send letters. Hell walk right up to the front door and knock.
Let's get this going, come on what are you waiting for?
You want the trucks to take lead so here is your chance.....
Sad, Sad people............
