I can tell you exactly why the April 1st strike didn't grow. Let me paint this picture. Every trucker was fed up and ready to do something, they were fired up, the c.b.'s were on fire with talk of a strike. It was all over the news, the media all over the country was standing by waiting to cover it. Some truckers were fired up but still afraid to striked, but every trucker was glued to the tv to see what was going to happen. Now insead of people banning together in large numbers to protest to draw the media, they sat home on strike. SO this gave the media nothing to report on. Truckers glued to their tv's did not see people striking so they were not going to step up. This thing could have been HUGE at this point. It would have grown by the day.. If you sat home on strike, no one knew you were striking. There was no media attention so it was not going to grow. This is my opinion that we missed a GREAT OPPORTUNITY. I believe if truckers saw this happening in the media all over the country they would have joined in and it wwould have grown by day. So if you want a strike you must be willing to get out there and protest and give the media something to report so others will see it happening all over the country and join in. If people are willing to commit to this then i am willing to get it going but if truckers are only going to set home or whatever then i say no to another strike..If you are going to try to organize something, you can not keep repeating the same mistakes..

Well put TTW. Your right it could have been huge and this being the wake of two months later, this could be diferent times if it was handled in a diferent way and had more support. With that poor showing , what are the chances the media or anybody else in that manner give two looks at any attempt at anything else ?

Now, Let's ask this question... Would truckers honor another strike on August 25. and would you be willing to get out there and protest? Just looking for feedback..

that depends. it's 8 weeks away, so that gives another 7 weeks of setting it up and the last week of finalizing it. it has to be an all out effort to be done and not another april 1 disaster. there are so many things do be done first, like a unity with all drivers and the general public to make a difference. can that be done. not with what i have seen around here or anywhere else on the internet. like i said before how is anybody expecting this too work if people on forums can't even agree on one thing without discontent and the bashing of other members. and don't even get me started on why can't all the trucking sited get along with each other and unite to make a stronger force against the same goal. i'll tell you my opinion, one i won't mention is on a power trip and thinks they are god himself and if you don't like it or disagree at all they ban. and the last attempt would have worked if more people would have done as they said instead of blowing smoke to just appease other members. right now as i look at it i give it a 50/50 chance. but there is time and it is all about how that time is used to accomplish the uitimate goal.

would i personaly back a movement ? it all depends on alot of things. i can't answer for down the road but right now i would have to say no. i hate failure, so why would i participate in another failure ? if things continue to change and keep moving into the positive then i would think about it. i have bills , like everybody else and certain commitments i have to meet. doing anything to hurt myself financially is not feasible. i have made certain adjustments to my life to ease the crunch and so has my family in florida. and they are my main concern and they depend on me alot.

whatever the date is, it should/will be a last shot for any change. the media will laugh at first(hopefully) and politicans will ignore it. the politicians and media needs to know everybody is serious. what would happen if on election day nobody showed up to vote claiming gas prices are too high so they can't get there. they would shit a brick and back peddle like hell. it has to be drastic like that to make a change. get my point.

And what is so significant about august 25 ? why that date ? nothing big happening then that i know of. aren't there two more perlimanaries in the election ? boycott that day.
