| I see we got a little friction in this thread, and in a way it is a good thing. It tells me that people still have the fire in their belly to try and make things better.
Some things to keep in mind, this is just some general thoughts for everyone: - Trucker Shutdowns
The chances of one of these making a major impact is very slim. It takes a ton of organizing, and every shutdown we have had to date has come with too little time to prepare and properly get the word out. Two things need to happen to increase the chances of success:- More time to plan
Bandit mentioned 90 days. 90 days is doable, providing everyone works extremely hard to get the word out. This means a centralized area for making plans, and reps all over the country distributing the information. - Organizations Uniting On The Date
We have multiple organizations out there, all of who are going about things in different ways. This is actually a good thing, because people have different ideas about what needs to be done. However, when it comes to an actual shutdown, all these organizations need to push the same date and work together just enough to make sure they all stick with the same date. You can have different ideas on what needs to be changed in the industry, just unite when it comes to dates for events like this.
- Focus On The Positive
I know that everyone gets frustrated at times, but if you focus on the positive, rather than dwell on the negative, much more can be accomplished. - Respect Others Efforts
This is one that tends to really get under my skin. There are many people out there at this point who are stepping up and trying to do things to help the Trucking Industry, and help the U.S. Citizen. While what they are doing might not be exactly what you think is right, before you criticize them and tell them what they need to be doing, take a step back and think about what you are doing.
Seriously, far too often, on forums and on the CB Radio, I have listened to people constantly complain about something. Then, as soon as someone steps up and tries to do something to make a difference, the same people who were complaining and doing nothing suddenly become the expert, talk down what someone is trying to do, and then tell everyone what needs to be done. If you know so much, why don't you step up and do it rather than talk about it. I'm not saying don't be vocal with your thoughts, just don't be the person that always criticizes what others do, yet never does anything themselves. - Don't Forget To Enjoy Yourself And Enjoy Life
The Country has problems, The Trucking Industry has problems, we as individuals have individual problems of our own.
Don't dwell on these problems continually. Here at The Truckers Forum, I notice that many people spend all their time buried in the "Trucking Industry Issues" forum. Take some time and check out the other forums here, and spend a little time talking about things other than problems. Get to know each other here. Hop over in the "Layover Tavern" and just talk about anything and everything on occasion.
And most importantly, Keep up the great work you guys and gals are doing! |
