Gentlemen, I realize that you are now 2 different organizations and i have some serious questions that i would sure appreciate some answers to. You don't have to respond to each other. I feel as though my questions are important at this point. I would greatly appreciate a response from both of you.
I would like to know how you are proceeding at this point to accomplish goals.
What are the goals?
What progress you are making?
What do you think people can be doing at this point to help accomplish the goals?
I feel like if you are going to be leaders you need clear and concise instructions on what needs to be done in order to accomplish goals. I'm not criticizing I'm only looking for answers. If I'm going to support someone, I have to know what it is I am supporting or suppose to be doing. Also so others can help here on the forum. You gentlemen were not here before May 5th. I understand that you had enough to deal with. What you may not realize is that this forum was on fire. We were busy day and night supporting your efforts, we were out adveritsing. The only conversation on the forum then was everyone reporting in on what they had accomplished for the day and what was next... I am going t speak for this forum and i hope i am not stepping out of bounds here. We will work with ANYONE who is trying to protect our livelyhoods and we do not have to choose one organization over the other. If you are looking for our help let us know what you are looking for. After all we are all trying to accomplish the same goals. Thank you, TTW

Tn Truckers Wife, Ill start talking about this and Im sure Mark and others will chime in as well .
Correct we are two different organizations and always have been.
Our goals that we are fighting for right now. these are some of our National goals we also have State level Issues we are fighting as well

Terminate Purchases for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve Extend Federal Regulation to Oil Futures

End Needless Tax Breaks for Oil Companies and Direct Funds to Consumers and Alternative Energy
Fully Fund and Restructure LIHEAP

Improve Vehicle Efficiency and Alternatives to Gasoline

TACU NY
Has the Ton mile Tax, we are fighting.

TACU PA
The lease of the PA turnpike
The sale of I 80 to private organization making this a toll road. this would cripple truckers

There are many bills we are watching as well..
SPR bill 6022 <passed in early may>
Bill HR5977 (TRUCC)
American Energy Production Act of 2008 [bill S.2973]

These are just some of the Goals, Bills we are supporting or fighting against.

Currently Do to the economic disaster we are in .We have put together a food drive as well to help out the Central Pennsylvania Foodbank, TACU NY is doing this as well
.
We all knowthat without Trucks America doesnt move.
There are O/O's out there, Company drivers and American citizens that are too afraid to take a stand and say something, these people think that the Government or Big companies are going to do something to them if they say something. We are educating the American people that this is your constitutional right to take a stand and say Hey something has to be done.
In a few weeks TACU delegates will be heading down to Washington again to sit in Conference with US Senators,Casey, Robert P., Jr. Specter, Arlen and Congressman Tim Holden to discuss issues of the current situation, If Truckers Forum or anyone else wishes us to bring up a subject or a certain bill please let us know..

Right Now TACU represents over 55,000 members we have been busy doing rallies, handing out fliers, emails, food drives.

We ask people that if you want to do something and cannot be there call your local reps.. educate the American people that it is there right to stand up and say something. Hand out fliers, call the local media, get on every message board..Get the Information out there..

In the near future we are going to head back to Washington D.C when they are back in session However this time we will have over 40,000 people with us.
We are heading to Albany, NY June 19th ..
We are also getting the permits for NYC run on wall Street.
check our website site also for upcoming events.

I just read your statement and can you canswer this for me? I know that what you are doing will be good in the long term, But what is being done for immediate action. What you are doing is good but does not resolve the following issues that need to be addressed immediately

1) rates need to go up
2) need mandatory fuel charges
3) need limits on brokers percentage
4) insurance rates need lowered.

Just to name a few.

3) need limits on brokers percentage this is currently being Investigated by a House committee
4) insurance rates need lowered. I dont know enough on this subject, If its anything like Auto ins its based on state by state and even districts, ins companies rape everyone..give me more info on the Subject and ill research this..

I am just asking because i have seen nothing about these issues posted recently. Toll road issues are a problem but if there is not going to be any immediate relief, how can they expect to get people to stand behind them and support them. Don't get me wrong, i am not trying to be negative but nothing will get done without support. If none of the issues i mentioned gets a resolution soon (like the next week or 2)

The American Driver's Goals, beyond the current fuel price issue...

1. Transparency in the trucking industry. Professional drivers are currently kept in the dark to the charges being paid by the shipper, and therefore are forced to accept what is being offered.
-- We are currently contacting several legislative assistants and all representatives involved with the TRUCC bill, reinforcing the need to get this bill passed. As well as contacting every other representative with information (emails we receive from drivers, articles and reports in the media regarding this issue as well as any pertinent info we can find...such as forum posts and blogs.) We are also trying to educate, and locate, representatives to initiate legislation that mandates transparency with legal action titles when violations occur. We haven't seen anything yet that ensures transparency within the trucking industry, only mandates of what needs to occur. It does no good to state that 100% of the fuel surcharge is to be passed to the person paying the fuel bill if there isn't any safeguards to ensure this is happening, with penalties for violations. For those that don't know...the fuel surcharge legislation was instituted after the '73 shut-down, and in that legislation it state's the person paying the fuel was to receive the surcharge.

2. Establish a minimum rate based on price of fuel. (establish a bottom line) Since the de-regulation of tariffs in the early '80s...this is what professional drivers should have done, instead of allowing the brokers/companies to take over and dictate rates.
-- This is an educational goal directed towards drivers, especially the new age drivers coming from non-trucking families. We believe professional drivers should establish a minimum rate per mile, instead of the brokers dictating the dollar per mile. We currently are approaching, emailing and calling when possible, drivers open to discussion about dollar per mile rates with our opinion of what all professional drivers should be doing. This will be a goal only accomplished through long hard work. We feel this to be very important to changing the attitude of cooperation between professional drivers, as well as the way the industry is controlled by the brokers. Without drivers - brokers have no business.

3. Lumping needs to be stopped NOW.
-- It's illegal due to the labor act in the '30s and again by the 1980 Motor Carrier Act (de-regulation.) It hurts the American economy/jobs. It supports illegal immigration. Any shipper or receiver in the shipping and/or receiving business needs to be able to ship and receive. It's their responsibility to supply the manpower and equipment. It's their responsibility to load and unload their product they are profiting on. Professional drivers are in the transportation business, not the shipping/receiving business. We have been trying to educate our representatives regarding this issue. We assist getting info out to drivers when class-action suits (SuperValue most recently) to aid in getting as many drivers involved as possible.

4. Get legislation to mandate FMCSA's inclusion of uncompensated hours at shippers/receivers.
-- The lost uncompensated hours caused by shippers/receivers is outrageous, and is the leading cause for non-compliance of HOS regs. The need for this issue to be dealt with is extremely important. We have been, and are still currently, trying to educate our representatives regarding this issue. We are pursueing other avenues as well (developing relationships with union reps [ILWU], watchdog groups and any other organization which could aid in getting our government's attention regarding this issue.) Also, it has become obvious that receivers are utilizing professional drivers as warehouses...by leaving them sit with their product on trucks without compensating the trucker. This is an issue which will be hard to convey this activity to representatives, but it needs to be addressed as well.

5. Stop our government from opening our borders and bringing in immigrants to fill American trucking jobs.
-- NAFTA, the Cross-Border program, Special Work Visas, the CDL Licensing of immigrants prior to becoming an American Citizen or even the lack of understanding english...all these are unconstitutional and destructive to America. We have been attempting to influence, and educate, Americans regarding these issues. We aggressively contact our representatives about these issues whenever any bill on the calender is related. We do not pursue shoving these issues into anyone's face, only look for openings to present the information...and then cautiously at that. These are all issues the majority of citizens, both professional drivers and average joes, are not aware of the truth, or have already formed an opinion, and will square off in the corner regarding their understanding of what the deal is with each issue and what needs to be done.

6. To take our federal governments power back, severing the control the elitists have on it, and return it to the true owners...The American People.
Issues regarding our infrastructure (toll roads, leasing of our roadways, the continual attack on drivers by governmemt entities regarding our right to drive...it's no longer a priviledge.) Issues regarding our country (the protection of our borders, the allowing of illegal immigrants to remain and utilize our system [ie. the pell grant, which US citizens are not qualified for, gives free money to people from other countries], the legislation being passed that never assists the citizens which really need assistance.) Issues regarding our federal governments abuse of our system (the big salaries our federal representatives pay themselves, the continued refusal to do anything effective for our citizens, the constant attention being paid to other countries infrastructure and economies, the abusive waste of our tax dollars, the incompetent management of our tax dollars and systems, the subversive methods to hide what our government is doing, the control of our society's media [digital conversion], the manipulation of our constitution to fit their agenda, the violation of our rights to effectively control Americans, the abuse of our judicial system.) The list is huge, and the goal here can only be achieved through the one single effort of all American citizens taking an aggressive stand to enforce our constitution. These are achievable, but only with great sacrifice.

7. To regain the respect and brotherhood that once existed within the trucking industry.
-- My grandfather, uncles, cousins, brother and an aunt, as well as myself, have been in the trucking industry for many years. My grandfather and uncles were around during the days when truckers were looked upon, and respected, as Knights of the Highway. Since the early 80's our government has been a force in destroying what once was. We are constantly attempting to reach out and educate truckers, and citizens, about the ethics that used to exist within the trucking industry. This goal, being one of our main goals when we started our endeavor over two years ago on the internet - and still is - will be one of the most difficult to achieve. We know this, but we continually pursue achieving this goal.

We started out over two years ago with our main site to assist drivers. We decided to stop talking about...be about. We feel our progress has been steady and strong. We've been able to get the attention of many citizens, some representatives and quite a few movers and shakers. We have managed to get our site linked to Landline Mag, Pilot Challenge Mag, several trucking sites, advocate sites and many blogs...without advertising and before we became heavily involved in the fuel price issue. Since April 13 we have succeeded in attracting over 66,000 visitors to our sub-domain attempting to organize Americans regarding the issues at hand. My brother and I were the major reason for the American Energy Production Act of 2008 to become a bill, even though the Democrats voted it down...we consider this to be a major accomplishment towards our endeavor to bring about change. We continue to provide information on our site to educate Americans (currently the main focus is on oil, but we continue to attempt to educate in other areas by making pertinent info available.) We push - we offer to assist - we support where ever support is warranted - we strive to influence action where action is needed. I feel my actions here on this site warrants what I'm trying to relay in regards to our progress.

We feel, and promote, each and every American's need to communicate with their representatives at least once a week, as well as any representative involved with action that will affect them. We believe a need to organize in one place (network) is critical to the success of taking our country back. Every single American needs to reach out to each other and communicate openly, and honestly...to allow those wanting to make an effective change to identify those which don't care. We want Americans to use their power of the consumer to make statements to the companies raping America. We want people to show their support by placing signs in their yards, signs in their vehicle windows, emailing their family and friends regarding these issues, contact their local media (as well as national media) about how they feel, send suggestions and info to legislators regarding what they feel could make a difference, start paying attention and get educated with what's happening to our country, make a stand - participate in actions - and commit themselves to take that stand until something actually gets done. We want Americans to actually read our Constitution and Declaration of Independence. We want Americans to read, learn and apply our rights according to our constitution. We want Americans to...

STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT!!!

-ss-

ps: sorry guys, but she asked for this...lol

Now I can definitely go along wit that...

Don't apologize, TTW. This was not a problem, nor an inconvenience. This is probably what was needed for everyone here, and those that visit, regarding The American Driver. I will never think twice about taking whatever time is necessary to provide a request for clear, concise info to those asking for it. I was just adding a little levity to my post.

Your Welcome...

I will tell you what is bothering me and i have said it all along that we have got to get our act together and act as one on this otherwise we look like a joke. there calls for boycotts, shutdowns and all the other things people want to do just ain't cutting it, april 1st shutdown probably had the greatest effect, the Washington rally for all intents and purposes as a show of unity was a bust as only a few hundred truckers showed up, there were more reporters there than truckers.

the NY. rally from what it sounds like was even worse , as only 50 trucks were reported there.

people are getting tired of hearing lets shut down on this or that date and then nothing happens.

If we don't get a plan to get the TRUCKERS together then this simply won't work.
I would suggest that we all put aside our petty differences and FOCUS on the problem, we HAVE to support one another to get ANYTHING done!!!

And another thing while I am on a rant quit calling for a shutdown rally or what have you in a few weeks or month IT DON'T WORK!!!!

you want to get realistic, plan something BIG and give it a minimum of 90 days to get the word to ALL the truckers, more time would be even better but 90 days minimum.

I know everyone wants something to happen now but this is a national problem and you simply cannot get it done right, in a short period of time, it just ain't possible.

Then even before you set a date there needs to be a plan on HOW to get the word out, advertising, would be ideal but on a grassroots level off the top of my head bumper stickers, cards, tee shirts, ect. would help, I am waiting to see if there is a date for something to be set up and I am going to go and spring for a self inking rubber stamp and I will be stamping the info all over the place.

I will tell you right now if we don't get our collective shit together real fast and stop doing things that fizzle out we are never going to be taken seriously, and the bottom line is this feuding and statements that you cannot support this plan or that plan has got to stop, there are issues I have had with several different things I have tried to support but in the interest of helping us all I looked at the fact that in the long run my issues were minor if it moved us all towards our goal, A good example was the April 1st shutdown, I voiced the opinion that april fools day wasn't exactly the best day to start something as important as this but I saw that there was enough people that were going to do it that it would get the attention of the TRUCKERS, I honored it knowing full well that it wasn't the answer to the problem but it was a step in the right direction.

I was hoping that a sound plan would emerge that would take advantage of the fact that the truckers were now listening but then the may 1st or 5th shutdown was announced, I knew that it didn't have a chance in hell of succeeding it was simply too soon to get the word out.

I will support any plan that has a decent chance of succeeding but from my point of view it would be at least September now before something could be put together and done right, and quite frankly if these little get togethers that have been happening keep going on we are going to loose our creditability

first off sorry if this is offensive but the dc trip had the people not the trucks and you know why cause guys couldn't afford it or don't want to stick together
i am done trying to get more drivers together it just isn't worth it i plan on getting more and more active members of the general public backing us since too many damn drivers are too stupid to realize that this affecxts everyone not just o/o it is company's that are starting to fail too but ask a company driver (not all but most) that is idling his truck when it is 60 degree's out he says its not my fuel etc what an asshole someone is payiong for it
also like i stated before one issue at a time not all those or nothing will get done
also get up off your asses and do something and tell others that too don't just sit behind a computer screen and talk do something get active!!!!!
i'm probably going to get hammered for this but you know what who cares its the truth you can't get 2 truck drivers to agree on anything and as for silver surfer he used to be a driver and now slings hammers which is great but what issues can he get done when not out here anymore is my question??? then again i already parked my truck and said screw it i refuse to fuel these oil companies and brokers on wallstrreet anymore of my money
if we all just shut down and make damn sure swift schneider and jb to name a few shut down just like canada did i think 17 yrs ago that is what it is going to take
we need a boston tea party or better yet a revolution in this country and trust me it's coming wheather you like it or not be ready
i am
and by the way the may 5th would have worked if we would not have been supporting and confusing everyone of it by having the may 1st bullshit ILWU thing on that site we should have had our own site before that and it would have been much better
lets set a date park your truck and go out in your 4 wheeler with the general population and circle with hundreds of 4 wheelers all fuel depots so tankers can't get in or out all we need is 3 days to a week for something to get done then!!!!!
lets see who has a real set of kahunnies how bout it!!!!
