I can't believe that loads are still being posted on load boards for the cheap rates that they are. I just called on a load out of Jacksonville, FL to Atlanta, GA (approx 365miles) and the company (Exxact Express) is trying to get the load covered for $325.00. What a bunch of B/S. With fuel at $4.60 per gallon and still trying to get loads covered for these rates. wouldn't even cover fuel.

This kind of crap really pisses me off. The only positive note here is that all the idiots that have been hauling that cheap freight, I believe are mostly already out of business and for the ones who stood up and refuesed to haul it, now the brokers or companies are left to deal with them, so they will have to pay up or KEEEP THAT CHEAP CRAP... I believe we are just about to get to the good stuff now gentlemen, where now they need YOU.

I don't know about that hun, I believe it is now comining down to the fact that they are going to have to start dealing with the people who have stood their ground on cheap freight. Just like Flatebead Pete said, the brokers are now calling him because they can't get their cheap freight moved and he has still refused.... Good for him....

It's coming, TTW. Its inevitable. Brokers/Companies will need drivers. It's already beginning in the specialties area (Flatbedpete can verify this.) I would like to point out so maybe people will begin to understand the propaganda about Mexican trucks and immigrants...it's a simple question. Where are they? If this was something we truely needed to worry about...brokers would not be calling drivers trying to get loads covered.

Now, if all drivers could conceive this, and understand it, then just stopped for a period of time. Big brother would be the one's calling asking for mercy.

Maybe you know something we don't? What better load? There was a day this type of business action would be profitable...but I do not believe this works in the current situation of high fuel prices. Maybe you could share with the rest of the truckers, which are going broke, where these better loads are.

Ever stop to think maybe our government, aiding the big trucking companies with tax credits to hire inexperienced drivers, had an agenda of placing individuals in the position of not knowing any better and taking those cheap rate loads. I was family taught...and one of the first things I learned was never take a load unless you know it will put a profit in your pocket. This lesson included the utilizing certain cheap paying loads to connect with the profitable loads. But ya never took but one cheap rate load for this purpose...otherwise you dead-headed either to your next profitable load, or home - period...but then I spent quite a bit of time learning the business - not 4+ weeks.

True.

There are no more areas where there are better loads. I am still stuck in Jacksonville with NO load but i am not gonna haul 1 cheap load to a (Sheit hole) area to get another cheap load.

Either pay my fair rate or i will sit. Right now my rates are $1.76 + $.64 FSC for me to pull a load. worst case scenario is I will deadhead out tommorrow if i don't get something today or will go home 65 miles.

There were over 200 loads posted on Internet Truckstop load board and now there are about 75. Most of the loads were to garbage areas but the loads seem to be getting covered. i just can't understand how anyone can pull loads at these rates and expect to be around in the future.

Is everyone that pulls these loads not using their brains or are they just looking to keep moving no matter what it costs to go somewhere.

That's what they are doing, u know about where we live. loads going out of hear r paying $300. going way over 300 miles. The large co. trucks r taking them to get out of here.
Also alot of the direct hauls we did have, and dont load anymore have stopped the fsc. because they can and these guys r loading them.
When ur big enough and buddy buddy with the gov. They r making money on them. All the damn tax breaks, profit / loss and all that bs.
not the co. driver, and they dont see it.

I keep getting phone calls and when i teel them i can't pull any load for under $2.10 per mile they all laugh and tell me that is high. so my response to them is that fuel is also high. i get 5 mpg and @ the cost of $4.79 per gallon means fuel cost alone is $.958 cents per mile
