I posted to u awhile back, your up in Bell ?
Why dont you work a deal with some of the house's and slaughter your own,
Have them market some.
I'm alittle south of you a friend of ours is doing something like that with his pigs.
Hell cant' afford store beef, as long as it's prosseced u can sell it.

Thanks for the help the closest slaughter house is 40 minutes away and the price per pound at the market is much greater. I'm cutting back around here im selling some horses that we don't use and we have stopped roping that saves alot of gas. It's very sad to watch all the other farmers around here fading away. Both of the surrounding farms around mine have just sold off all of there cattle between the 2 farms there was 400 head sold it's very sad. I'm waiting for the big wigs to move in and start building condos. Unfourtunatly I have listed my farm for sale for a very high price due to the fact I don't want to sell it all of the repairs we were going to do and the new barn we were going to put up before next winter is not going to be possible so we need to start heading out of florida. By the way diesal is $4.79. makes me sick!

How close to the river r u?
The land is going for so little now. And the people buying is not from here.
If u listed high you might have a problem selling it. If it's a m/h forget it we r in season now and everyone use's that.
The best thing to do is try to hold out, not anybetter anyplace else.

The trouble started when Sun Capitalal purchased Jevic. They proceeded
to liquidate all of the assests. You all know the rest.

From their website
:
Jevic downsized just recently, but assured their customers, employees, and independent contractors that they were not going out of business. Looks like their downsizing plan wasn't enough.

For those that thought only the small independents were going to be pushed out of business because of fuel prices, here is a good example of a larger company that has now been forced to close the doors. This puts many people out of work, form the offic personell, to the company drivers who will be searching for another company to drive for, and also quite a few owner operators who will now be looking for another company to lease on to.

For any company drivers who don't think this is their problem, better think again because unless something changes, your company could be next

Is it that assets were being liquidated, or is it assets were being sold to offset the increase in operational costs? I can't find anything in my research supporting a buy out/liquidation scenario. Logic seems to indicate that company assets were being sold to offset operational costs. A basic business strategy to survive bad economic times...although this strategy will not work this time unless you have an enormous asset supply.
