I am looking over the discussions that are going on in this forum now and I am really liking what this is turning into. For the most part, you folks have kept this forum very productive with well thought out discussion of issues relating to the trucking industry.

I added this "shutdown forum" as a place for truck drivers and trucking industry supporters to have a place to talk about the shutdown, because a specific forum like that didn't exist at any other trucking forum. I was sick and tired of seeing people come into forums with a desire to do more than bitch about problems, only to be ran off by people who gave the same old "nothing is gonna change" "truckers will never get together" lines.

You people started with talks of organizing an April 1 shutdown, and have now started growing this forum into a great place to discuss and act on issues that relate to the trucking industry.

To see new organizations starting up and gaining strength tells me that there are many drivers out there who are willing to do what it takes to improve the trucking industry, and with continued work, these drivers will only grow in number.

I think now is a good time to rename the "2008 Trucker Shutdown" to something else more descriptive of what the conversation has turned into. Something like "Trucking Industry Issues", or something.

Any Suggestions for a new name? We have gone beyond just "shutdown" talk. Post your suggestions for a new name below.

"Trucking Industry Issues" is an excellent forum title. It would allow us to address all the different issues involved without having to create, or change, forums.

"Trucking Industry Issues" is what we will call it for now.

I am also taking the other general trucking forum and renaming it the "Company Driver Forum".

Also wanted to let everyone know that since moving, I am finally getting the home office set up next weekend, complete with a good internet connection. I have been struggling to get anything done with the forums for the last few weeks, but will now be able to keep a better eye on things and join in the discussions a little more myself.

We have a great group of members here, and I hope it continues to grow with the quality discussion that you guys and gals keep bringing. Staying on top of the issues surrounding the trucking industry is the only way we are ever going to be able to improve things for owner operators, company drivers, and everyone else who has an interest in industry. Keep up the great work!
