The price of fuel

According to Exxon excecutives the price of gas pays for 3 things.. 69 percent for crude, 13 percent TAx and 18 percent Refining..
This makes NO sense to me..how would they have such a GREAT profit??
They say the government makes the most money due to tax..and NO service rentered..comments??

That's probably not true.
Here in Finland, gas costs about $7.8/gallon. And that contains 75% of taxes. The rest is quite simply costs for haulin' the crude, refining it, distribution and of course profit...
At least the crude's the same? There can't be so much difference in price.

And btw. gasoline is the waste of refining process.

a chunk of their profits they boast about is coming from the 65% capital return on refineries. And Public Citizen is an excellent resource.

Diesel jumped in Nash. TN. 20 cents from Friday until Sunday. It went from 4.09 to 4.29.

$4.51 a gallon for diesel here in small town Indiana, unleaded is $3.86 here and $4.19 in a few places in Illinois. I give it 2 days and unleaded will hit $4.00 everywhere. What the hell is the magic number for people to STOP FREAKING DRIVING?!?!?!? $10.00 a gallon???

I've pulled up to pumps and seen where the guy before me pumped EXACTLY $3.86... THEY ARE BUYING ONE GALLON AT A TIME AND IT'S USUALLY PAID FOR IN POCKET CHANGE (oops, sorry bout the caps) change on the floor of the car I imagine. This just keeps getting worse and worse.

That is sooo sad. From everything i have read, watched and been tought, that is when the oil bubble will burst, when the price is so high people can no longer afford it. Then the thieving bastards will move onto the next commoditiy.

lets shut it down we need this to happen you know that right?
until then more and more are going hungry and more or getting deaper in debt how are they going to heat the house next winter?? what about the elderly people on fixed incomes
lets get it together all of us and set a date and do it

On average it costs the oil companies from $5.00 to $15.00 to pump the crude out of the ground. Exxon is not JUST an oil company, it also has an investment arm that speculates in the future price of crude. They're refining profit margins lower as the price of oil goes up, but when you own the oil, and your using the Enron's fuzzy math you can make your profit margins appear to be want you want them to be. Their profits are not limited to just the sales of gasoline and disiel ..... they own the ExxonMobil gas stations. I would guess their profits are far higher than they would have us believe. The Arabs also have oil spectulation investment arm.

Crude oil speculators adds 34% to a barrel of oil, while the sinking dollars add as much as 18% as the dollar raises and falls. There are no regulations to control the buying and selling if crude oil futures ( all part of the idea of less government ). The FTC is just now beginning to look into the run go in crude oil prices using the new Federal Trade laws. It was over a year ago when Congress gave the FTC the power to go after the Racketeering behind crude oil prices. My question is, why did FTC wait until Congress demanded they start their investigation a year later?

One other thing. Your city, state, and federal government retirement funds profit from the higher oil prices. There are city, state and federal retirement investment funds that buy futures in the crude oil market, they buy on the low and sell on the high. They started buting oil futures when prices were $60.00 a barrel and rode it up to $110.00 before selling, making billions for the government retirement funds. It all started when the dollar started sliding which only helped to add to our price at the pump.

I already see people hitchhiking to get to work. Many are not being paid enough to buy gas and feed their families. Some stores & shops in the next largest town to ours where most of the jobs are, are opening one or more hours late.

We are paying $3.99 for regular, and $4.34 for Shell's V Power, and $4.71 for diesel.

it's too late now for any small adjustment. all this should have started 4-6 yrs ago when prices started to rise. for any kind of a change now, it is gonna have to call for drastic measures and unity. this is the perfect time for this to happen with this being an election year.

what would i do ? first off stop go8ing to all these damn trucking shows. imagine the faces when nobody shows up and all the money they lost. second, don't vote. they run it anyways and will put whoever they want in office no matter what. remember fla miscount. twice.

the key here is doing something without hurting yourself financially.

the only way to totally screw them over, in which is what we need to do, is get off the grid. become self sofficaunt completely. run solar power for the house and drive hybrid vehicles.

REARDAN, Wash. (AP) - Mom-and-pop service stations are running into a problem as gasoline marches toward $4 a gallon: Thousands of old-fashioned pumps can't register more than $3.99 on their spinning mechanical dials.

The pumps, throwbacks to a bygone era on the American road, are difficult and expensive to upgrade, and replacing them is often out of the question for station owners who are still just scraping by. Many of the same pumps can only count up to $99.99 for the total sale, preventing owners of some SUVs, vans, trucks and tractor-trailers to fill their tanks all the way.
