Yup... Raining sideways now. The ground has felt like you were walking on a sponge before it started raining, this time.

Winter Weather Delays Reopening of I-40

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has pushed back the reopening of a portion of Interstate 40 that was closed by a rockslide in October. While the department had expected to finish the work in March, it has delayed the work due to harsh winter weather, and doesn't expect to reopen it until late April.

The DOT says there are five additional sites that need to be stabilized, four of which are just west of the area where the October rockslide occurred, near the Tennessee border.

I'm telling you, if you're smart, you stay the hell off of this POS road. I run West out of NC all the time and will not be on this stretch of I-40 unless I have a delivery in the immediate vicinity. I-77 to I-81 will get you to the same place, with an 11 mile difference (longer), but, will save you thirty minutes, or more.

When they had that huge rockslide back in the '90's that closed the road for what, almost a year? was enough to make me take alternate routes, not that driving through that pass behind somebody loaded to the nines wasn't bad enough they restrict you to the right lane

It can stay closed as far as I am concerned. The route that 2XR showed is much better, and as he says, faster.
