I had a local shop do an Inframe on my truck in February. I haven't ran it much, and when I have had it running, I was driving it myself. This past monday I was 10 miles from where I was to unload and it went to knocking, skipping, and smoking like the devil. I drove 2 miles farther to a fuel stop and parked it. I had it towed back to the shop where it was Inframed. They pulled it back down and it turns out that the #5 Piston is terribly gaulded. The shop don't want to make it good. I have only put 2,330 miles on the Inframe. I feel like they should fix it at no cost to me. What do ya'll think I should do ?

Wow, bad time to have bad luck like that.

What kind of warranty did they offer on their work?

Did they recommend any additional work that you declined?

Is there anything specific that may have led to a premature failure other than faulty parts or poor workmanship?

Depending on whether you declined any work that could be related to the breakdown, and you have a warranty on the work done, I think they should definitely stand behind it.

He said 30 days, but he knew I wasn't using it much. The truck hasn't been out of the yard 15 times. He Did not recomend any additional work. I feel like it was poor workmanship. He let his son who is 21, and don't know much help him without looking over his shoulder on some things. I figured had I been running it everyday, It wouldn't have lasted a week.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you screwed yourself here.

I haven't owned a truck in quite a while, and don't know what the typical warranty is on work like this, but I am not going to spend thousands of dollars on work without a significantly longer written guarantee.

I also wouldn't have allowed work like this to be done somewhere like this. You need well trained technicians doing work like this. Might cost more upfront, but you put yourself at high risk in situations like this.

They have a 30 day guarantee, and while I think it was poor workmanship, there isn't much you can do. Actually, there isn't anything you can do other than hope this guy has good business ethics, which doesn't appear to be the case.

I really hate to see this happening to you or any other O/O, given the struggles that the industry is facing already. I hope this situation doesn't cripple your business.
