Does anybody really consider a truck payment on a 5 to 20k truck to be a big factor when being a o/o?

yes........start-up cost montly cost and repairs which you will have. And loads........

The older the equipment the longer the downtime for repairs plus costs involved. Insurance costs may only vary little from a much newer truck. Most lease O/O companies have an vehicle age restriction. Generally payments are shorter by nature but can be equal in amount to buying much newer equipment. Good luck as the rates now are terrible.
