    Insurance?

Can anybody give me an approximate number for what insurance would be a month for an 18 year old driver in a cheap (5-15k) straight dump truck that was financed. I know a lot of factors go into figuring it up but all i need is a ballpark estimate. Thanks.

$$$ eleventeen gathousand dollars... give or take a buck two ninety eight...

Honestly, there is no way of predicting what the rates will be. Many factors are involved.... like:
    • Range of operations
    • Cargo transported
    • Weight
    • Driver's age and experience
It's liability that will clean your plow. I wouldn't put it on the street with less than $ 1,000,000 in liability coverage...

ok lets say (cus this is the plan)

-range of operations: less that 500 miles (intrastate obviously)
-cargo transported: grain, seed, etc (farm stuff)
-weight: whatever can fit in a 14 or so dump bed designed for grain
-age and experience: 18 yrs and no exp

Buffalo...if you're serious about getting into trucking...I suggest you ask these type of questions from the companies that handle this. It doesn't cost anything to call insurance brokers that deal with this and get a quote, and I do recommend ya shop around for the best price. A forum is a good place to get feedback about many things, but this is the type of question you should really address with the companies providing this service.

I will share this though to give ya an idea of what I'm saying. My brother is 45yrs old - no majors or accidents - plated for 45 states...he pays $7,600/yr for primary, cargo, bobtail and liability. He knows someone 5yrs younger - 2 majors and a couple of accidents - plated for 45 states...he pays over $12,000/yr. This is a question which you need to address with the companies conducting business for this service.

    -ss-
