Getting last check issues

I quit my job and i have to relocate back down south for not important reasons for this. My company is holding my last check that they owe me and trying to charge me for some B.S. charges and such. I have called them and am waiting for the owner to call me back. I won't wait long. In a civil way how do i go about getting my last check. I have thought about reporting them to the BBB and DOT and even OOIDA but i know this won't do any good. Why do companies give so much flack trying to get a last check. I have thought the revenge factor but that is not an option. I just want to light a fire up somebodies ass to get my last check. It's not like i am asking for anything more than what is owed to me. It's about 5-6 trips they owe me. Around a grand or so. Why is it so hard to get the money owed from every single trucking company out here. They all want to short change you and screw you out of money. I am so close to never driving again and telling them all to kiss off. But i hate to throw away the last 18 yrs of my life. If anybody knows of what i can do to expediate the process it will be much appreciated. The name of the company is pleasant trucking out of south western pennsylvania. Stay away from them.

Everyone does it. Luckily I had a contract that I could use to pressure them. But in your case, I think most states do not allow an employer to hold your last check past your pay day.

Call your local Labor Board Cerberus. They can tell you what the law allows the employer in your area, and they can also help get your money if the company is in violation of the law. Now this isn't the BBB, it's the Federal or your State Labor Board. I hope this helps you & Have An Awesome Day

thanks people. i have been doing alot of reading and looking into options on this. seems i can take them to small claims court over this, they can be fined and by Pa law they have to pay money due by the next pay period, which is today. So if i don't get my money today, i can file a complaint with the DOL in Pa and take them to court.

" (a) Separated Employes. Whenever an employer separates an employe from the payroll, or whenever an employe quits or resigns his employment, the wages or compensation earned shall become due and payable not later than the next regular payday of his employer on which such wages would otherwise be due and payable. If requested by the employe, such payment shall be made by certified mail "

and this is straight off the labor board website.
