I think about this from time to time driving out there at night, that someone will try this. GOSH! I really hope that never happens.
Could be... most insurance companies won't pay a life insurance death benefit for suicides unless the policy is a couple of years old. Thus, if a person is killed in a "traffic accident", there is a good chance the beneficiary will receive a check. Hell, in fact, a good lawyer can probably put the squeeze on the trucking firm to ante-up for taking the poor "victim" out of this world, too.

After I came back from Desert Storm 1990. One of the guys I deployed with stepped in front of a truck on I-69 in Anderson IN. The state police said he saluted the truck prior to it hitting him. Another truck thought it was a deer flying through the air. I have the documents somewhere. It knocked him out of his shoes. I think it was 150 feet before he hit the pavement. I can't imagine what the driver went through.
I was the NCOIC of the casket team and it was the hardest military funeral I have ever done. The thing that shocked me was his mother had an open casket. His whole head was puttied and he had white gloves on and you could see where the fluid was seeping through the gloves. It happened near exit 26.
I have never gotten over that being he was a friend and I am a driver. The state trooper I talked to said there was no alcohol or drugs in his system. He just decided to end his life.
Saw the aftermath of one in SE MO not too long ago. Woman parked car alongside I-55 and stepped in front of a big truck. Happened minutes before I drove by in opposite direction. A scene that haunted me for some time....
