Reputation Points Activated

Per the request of our member, Cerberus, and with a little thought on how to implement this, we have activated the reputation Points feature here.

How it works:

• When you see a post that you particularly like, or dislike, you can add or takeaway from that person's reputation by clicking on the icon within that post. This icon is located on the left side of the post, below the member's username.
• Once you click on the icon, you will have an option to "approve" or "disapprove" of that members post, as well as leave a comment about it.
• As a member develops a good rep, you will see increased green dots that look like this (). On the other hand, a member who develops a bad rep will begin to show red dots in place of green dots.

I'm sorry but i don't really like this system. I just found out that i have a negative reputation point over a statement that i made and i feel like if you read the whole conversation that i did nothing wrong. I feel that this negative point is not justified. This was my post :
If you think the unions might help, then pick up the phone and call them, or anyone else, JB hunt, schneider, who ever, try to get them on board.

I still see a green dot by your name. I guess every once in a while you're bound to piss in someone's wheaties. I don't see how anybody could have thought something wrong with picking up a phone to get help, though. I say whoever gave you the negative ain't worth the time worrying about TTW. You are still doing a helluva job.

thank you very much Rebel i appreciate it, I just think if people have an opportunity to complain and it be put on a point system then the complaint should have to be justified or otherwise it's not a fair point system. Maybe i really shouldn't care but i try to get along with everyone and be respectful. BTW I have a total of 9 so 8 are good and 1 is bad. I don't mind having a bad one if it is justified.

I suppose that if a person had a differing political viewpoint it would be possible to "taint" a reputation based solely on the thin reasoning that you might dislike a person's communication of their political stance. In other words, the reputation system could be used to attempt the silencing of free political speech by the "bad reputation" intimidation method.

This could become problematic if a group of Marxist decided a Wingnut was disrupting their monopoly of a forum, PMd each other to form a conspiracy, and then they all give their nemesis "bad" reputation points. This might cause the Wingnut to have some credibility issues.

I'm not sure if this is suppose to be a fun thing or a serious thing. If it's a fun thing then it really dosen't matter but if this is suppose to be a serious thing and you will be judged by your comments then it does matter. Bull could you please explain the importance of this system. Thank you..

I read the message Bull posted, don't think it matter's much, I had a green one and a red one then the red one went away. I think if we dont agree we do the neg. on the tree, and when u do agree the other thing. I don't know.
What I'm not sure of is the triangle thing.

Nothing really important. Just a way for members to express their approval or disapproval for some posts.

If your getting more good than bad, you will eventually have more green dots.
If you are getting more bad than good, then you will eventually be having red dots.

Everyone will get negative comments at times that they don't think they deserve. Provided the system isn't being abused, it won't matter, so nothing to worry about.

Overall, just something to make the site a little more interactive.

very interesting idea. . . at least now we will be able to keep track of the very interesting and informative threads and keep the stupid stuff off. Even though theres not to many stupid threads on this site which is what I like about coming here. Not alot of BS and everyone seems to be supportive of everyone so it kinda feels like a family.
