thats a good idea. Moose. there a few good companies out there and this will give them a place to be .
This forum is set up for recommending good trucking companies to other drivers. Trucking companies that treat their drivers and leased on owner operators well need to be rewarded with good comments, and good drivers need to know about these places.
We will try to edit thread titles when needed (for better description purposes only), but as a recommendation to all members taking advantage of this forum, be as descriptive as possible in your thread titles. This will make the information you post more effective. Making sure you post the company name in the thread title is very helpful.
Be truthful in your reports. We have no way of proving or disproving what you say, nor will we try to do so. We just ask that you be as accurate and fair as possible when you post about a trucking company in this or any other forum.
We are looking for recommendations from drivers and drivers families only. While we cannot verify if you are a driver or a company rep, there are methods that we can use to check, and we will do so on all threads. If we find a thread to be created by a company rep, the thread will be deleted and the member's account will be banned. Unlike some forums, we allow company reps to freely post within our forums here, so don't abuse this privilege by abusing this forum.

IN THE END WE'RE ALL JUST CHALK LINES ON THE CONCRETE,
DRAWN ONLY TO BE WASHED AWAY,
FOR THE TIME I HAVE BEEN GIVEN ,
I AM WHAT I AM - F.F.D.P.
I am from Oklahoma, and have 12 years of trucking experience. The thing is that I have been working local driving a water tanker for the last year, and the work has played out. I am looking for another over the road position, but am only hearing from companies now that say that I have to have a year recent over the road experience.
What is a guy to do?
Anyone help me with any suggestions?
Why go back over the road ? Freight has really dropped off in the past year and the miles aren't there . Look into towing companies . Auto hauling has really picked up due to the high number of repo's . I know a family with hotshot rigs that switched to auto hauling and they are keeping 3 trucks running getting decent rates .
They only take online applications but you can send an application in and contact a local terminal and let them know you applied . Terminals in Louisville and Chattanooga are hiring . Chattanooga does a lot of food grade . A new driver there told me he took home over $700 last week . I took home over $800 after they took out $120 for my 401K . I get home for every restart and get home during the week between loads . The other driver is also regional and gets home during the week .
A few things about Quality . You need 2 years OTR but tanker experience isn't required . You need the hazmat endorsement . Orientation is only a week and you will have a trainer for about a week to familiarize you with loading and unloading procedures . They are VERY strict on HOS compliance . Compliance takes priority over making appointment times . Don't even think about cheating . They give you a Blackberry with GPS that gets pinged every 15 minutes when you are under dispatch . Most of the terminals are affiliate owned . You will be an employee of the affiliate , not QC so benefits and pay vary from terminal to terminal .
They have hundreds of applications at corporate so don't bother applying if you have recent accidents , violations , or a criminal record .
They are not really the best company for an O/O .
There are some tanker companies that haul food grade that don't require hazmat . I'd suggest getting hazmat though . Most carriers will reimburse you for it .
Try Gordon Trucking Inc. Based out of Pacific, WA. thats close to Seattle, but they have terminals in Clackamas, and Medford. I worked for them about a year ago, and wishing I never left now. They did good by me.
Their not hiing out of my area now because of slow freight in the area
