With the current problem of gas prices the way they are, I know for a fact you guys and gals are getting hit hard as well. So my question is why do you not gather together to make a point and strike? My friend brought this up the other day and i thought it was a valid point.
I mean dont give in for 1 week till the government actually takes a real look at gas prices and drop them. If all truckers just stop for a few days that would halt our business and economy to a stop in matter of 1 day. We would suffer yes, but at the end would it not work bringing back gas to somewhat normal levels?

It sounds really good in theory but here is the problem, their are company drivers(Swift, JBHunt, Yellow, etc) who will not strike and then there are owner/operators. If the majority of the o/o would shut down it could still have a major impact, but the next fact is they wont, trueth is we are struggling just to survive. here's what would happen a few o/o would shut down just like April 1st, but not nearly enough to have an impact, so these guys loose money and possibly their jobs and accomplish nothing because you can not get the majority to shut down. Now i do agree that is what needs to happen but you just can't convience all the drivers to do so. Their attitued, just like most American's is "Aint' nothing you can do about it". I disagree but that is what the majority of the people think.

Believe me we're trying.

Here's another way of looking at it.
Soon, it'll happen anyway. Prices get too high and people (sm co.s too) go bankrupt. Chaos ensues, roads and bridges get blocked and the Big Boys can't deliver either.
The writing is on the wall

I agree, o/o are going out of business every month now in large numbers but if gas continues to rise soon we will ALL be out of business, then what, that is a very scary thought.

well to all of you out there that are having rough times, I wish you the best. I could only imagine having to pay such prices and have to do it because its your lively hood. Where people like me can just stop driving for the day to save you cant. I wish there was a way to gather a majority of all truck drivers and speak with them about this. Because if we could come to an agreement T.N. mentioned it might just work if we could just get everyone together though. People might lose there jobs, but then again who would take there place knowing what truckers are facing they would be facing as well. Is there not a way to form or a union or a union in place already where truckers would not have to fear repercussions? I mean, this has to work and has to be the way to place such a stop to this non-sense. I think we the American people could live without a weeks worth of Walmarts stuff, and if we stock up on food we would be fine for a week. Well I will check back, let me know your thoughts.
take care

The union and the large trucking co, are a big part of our problem. The teamsters nor any of the big boy's most gov. sub. wont even respond.
I belive the union (teamsters) r going to be next.
buy the time they see what is going down it will be too late. And it wont just be the teamsters. All unions will be in trouble.
3 G.M. plants just closed.(union)
The Gov. Don't want them anymore because they dont need them.
only a few B.S unions might survive, but they wont be the one's that keep the country running.

Who pay's the Teamsters and the unions ????
Dont pay and they get hurt???
like i have said before drive 100% legal
i know you may loose some money but if ur given a deadline that aint posable then u have to up the rates.
The only people hurting the idustry are drivers braking the rules'
answer and i know this would hurt
advise the authoritys about the drivers and companys that are braking the rules.
The answer is in ur own hands, as a driver for 30yrs in the UK i do understand the situation ur in and i dont envey you its a hard life i've been there.
If i could i would stand shoulder to shoulder with you guys

we don't pay them, we are not in any union, it's alot different here, alot of us in trouble are o/op. Indep.
and small trucking co. I truely belive the union's dont hold the power they use too. our states differ as your countries. If you run agaisnt the log book the company does not pay, the driver does, know matter who u are. if u load heavy too. when u take controll of that truck u know what needs to be done. when the rates started getting funny so did we. We would weigh with full tanks go back and make them take some off.just to bust chops.all that did was piss the broker off and he found another truck. It's just different here.

High Oil Prices: It's All Speculation
Some lite reading on how this crisis looks just like Enron did in 2001. Same people too.

Still trying to get direct link from here. I'll figure it out.

I'll be damned if it didn't work.
