Life of a Worn Out Trucker

Posted 10-14-2008 at 02:36 PM by wornouttrucker
You know I been doing this a while now. I am almost at the point where I want to quit for good, but *sigh* I can't yet.

I have not won the lottery yet, maybe one of these day's I will.

I by no means have been trucking long enough to really remember the "good ole day's", but I have been doing it long enough that I have seen a bunch of changes to the industry and the "Quality" of drivers.

What is it with the CB Radio these day's? I hear so much nonsense on it anymore I just leave it turned off most of the time. When i first started driving it was a useful part of trucking, now it seems it is just a place for idiots to show their asses!

It used to be used for "Bear reports" and accident info, but seems the idiots have just about taken over.

I think it should be taught in trucking school how to properly use the CB Radio.

Oh yea BTW this is my first blog post.....Thanks Bullwinkle for adding this feature.

Like you, I rarely have the blasted thing ON, when I even have one hooked up.
In the late 90s there would be Bear reports yet usually of stationary bears from 80-140 miles away. useful information.
I used to LOVE hearing the Folk talk about kicking asses in Truck Slops AND the ones that were looking for someone to kick THEIR ass. Humor was cool when it was presented but since 01, People have been turning away from the humor and just becoming idiots where they're in actuality simpleminded morons with only one view of everything and the mouth to shout with, but no balls to back anything up.
Nowadays, turning on the cb to channel 19, one usually gets static when anything at all.
I guess 19 is the dead channel yet I know not which is the live channel.
Side Bands are still active with the proper equipment and there are always those with the SUPER POWERED RADIOS sitting 30 feet from their lovers usually in the front row of a t. a. or petro chatting away about nothing while bleeding over 10 channels.
One can't even key up without smoking ones Finals.

If it were a lesson in Trucking Schools to learn the proper uses of CBs, there will always be the ones that have to add the Roger Beep and the assorted other annoyances (that are standard on some Radios) like Echo, Talk Back, Reverb, etc.
I would LOVE to have a SUPER TRUCKER RADIO pushing about 500 watts but I have to ask myself: "What the hell for??"

LOL! Exactly, I give bear reports but only receive a very few. I like the ones that roll up on a parking lot on the interstate and ask, umm what's going on?

Then 2 minutes later another driver will ask the same question and so on and so on.

I guess I have a SUPER TRUCKER RADIO but mine only does 250 watts...
